Hi i am like to know about the relay for the cooling fan. It suppose to turn on when it reaches normal operating temperature, the actual temperature is 163-165 but when the fans come on it drops to 153 then rises and drops. However, the relay gets hot what could it be?

There have been a number of people who have had the relays stop working and looking like they actually melted due to heat. Based on that I would recommend swapping out the relay that is getting hot as it may be starting to fail. A simple swap with the horn relay may work as you probably don't use the horn that much. Otherwise pick on up at a junk yard or buy one from a forum member.

I had replaced both relays and they get hot don't know if its the main relay making it hot?

Actually the numbers was taken by a infrared heat gun detects the temperature of the engine. I was thinking more on the main relay. What are your thoughts on that?

So u think those heat gun temps are not too low?

if u think its your main relay just test it and see...

my guesses...

A. Your fans are turning on too soon and your not getting to operating temp... Impossible. Even with fans running constantly (thermosensor connector jumped) and heat on high your engine will get hot enough to open the thermostat 172 F. unless its freezing outside and right now its August.

so u can test your thermostat too.

I agree with you but its whats happening.
My mechanic had removed the thermostat to have a constant coolant flow to avoid overheating. He forgot all about the relays but he also stated its getting too hot and want to separate the connections. I think that is not a good idea. At normal operating temperature the fans have not come on.

So best bet is to install the thermostat?
What is your thought on this issue?

The relay's are getting hot and don't want to wait until it melts the connectors.

I am planning to purchase from Acura Delray the main relay, the radiator relay and the condenser relay as illustrated on the manual.

so according to the chart the fan will come on at 182 degrees?

And that your fans never turn on... wdf dude your thread started with u saying your fans turn on too soon.

u never respond with any test results?

Do this now... Test Thermostat, and fan relays.

Install if good, if not replace.

Bleed and refill cooling system with the heat on.

Once your are to operating temp see if fans come on twice.

if not at all... Jump the thermosensor connection with a paper clip.

If they turn on while jumped, replace thermosensor.

use the online manual, learn it well.

Test and install Thermostat and fan relays BEFORE U RESPOND please

Sorry for this late reply, i had problems with my account couldn't post. But i am back now. Just wanted to let you know that the problem I had was the headgasket. I have done everything you told me to no avail and came to realization that the headgasket is the culprit. Thanks for your feedback, comments which you are right is best to dig deeper and start learning rather than relying on mechanics and do it myself. Well i just did. I took apart my engine to replace the headgaskets. Thanks again for the little push.
