How do I treat this condition? Paint haze

Last couple of times I washed my Legend I noticed a couple of patches of haze on the hood. If you look at it at an angle it shines pretty nicely but if you look at a reflection of something you can really see it.

I pulled out the porter cable yesterday and went over the entire hood

3m Swirl Remover - Dark Colors (Orange Medium Cutting Pad)
Meguiars Scratch X (White polishing pad)
3m Liquid Wax - red waxing pad

very little improvement to the hazy spots but the rest of the hood looks great. Should I try a fine cut rubbing compound on those areas?

Sounds like just some corrosion, but could be damaged clearcoat. If it's the clearcoat, then there is nothing that can be done. I had some luck with my Meguiar's Dual Action polisher and #M-80. Do a small area at a time slowly with about 15 lbs of pressure. I made the mistake of spreading the M80 as it became more liquid causing it to dry out. You need to make sure it's still wet when you wipe it off.

If it is the clear coat I dont think you will be able to do anything about it.

Doh, thats what I was fearing. We'll I'll give it one more shot with a fine cut rubbing compound this weekend and call it a day.

I had this hazing on my `95 KA7, on the roof, part of the trunk, & a little bit of one of the 14/ panels. It is the clear-coat defecting, and not much can be done about it. I actually wrote to Acura a few years ago when we lived in Central FL., as I had found that most black & dark green Legends had this problem. Acura wrote back that my warranty was up, and to 'Have a Nice Day.
End of story; went to the Acura Dealer on Orange Blossom Trail in Orlando, they confirmed that it was a paint/clear-coat defect, and charged me $700.00 to strip & repaint the problem areas. Outcome; Nice repair, perfect blend into old finish, and the car is just fine 5 years later. Acura in Orlando stressed not to use an aggressive compund to try to get rid of this hazing ourselves, as it could cause the clear-coat to start flaking off!

I managed to remove that hazy effect, I just used some 3m Fine Cut Rubbing compound and an Orange Medium Cut Pad.

Thanks for everyones suggestion

I like 3M products but they tend to dust very badly and cake up your pads quickly too. I used a small dab of the rubbing compound and after 2 minutes of buffing one 2'x2' area it was throwing dust all over the place.

I don't know if I was dreaming or what but I had some haze on my roof and after going over it with a claybar and quick detailer spray it seems to have disappeared. But since you've gotten rid of it maybe you might want to keep this in mind?

I tried the claybar first, I thought maybe it was a bad wax job. It felt good but still looked pretty bad. I thought I'd have to get the hood resprayed.
