How many of us here, are true Legend Enthusiasts??

Let me just start off by stating this: whatever anyone does in his or her life is their own prerogative, and secondly please understand that I'm not knocking anyone here for doing what they need to do, or have done!

But…I've noticed a few people I know (whom I thought to be die-hard legend-heads) simply give up on the car, as soon as there's a major (such as a BHG and, sometimes not so serious) problem with their vehicles.

Some have even switched brands with bitter hearts/tongues toward the car! Now, I'm not saying that there aren't any legitimate reasons why some people get rid of their legends!
Reasons like being financially in need at the time, or maybe, a need for something bigger to suit your growing family's needs, is a few legit reasons to mention. I'm not referring to those types of dire situations!
I'm speaking of those of us, who have the means to remedy the problem/s that may surface, but just choose to move on.

Just wanted to throw it out there, to see how many of us here, would stay with these cars inspite of the imperfections that sometimes come with owning a 13-year+ car!? For me, it's Legend forever baby! I will be owning a legend to the day they stop making parts for this b!tchh. Do I like other cars out there? Hell yea! But the ledg will be there right alone-side the others! :D

What's your opinion on this??

Well getting back to the love/hate relationship for this car I have to admit that I love that there are others out there who share this love I know I have posted this before bewe often at times hate that which we love most because we are fueled with passion. And even though it is not often stated passion is not always a pleasant experience. but it is the driver that allows you to endure and gain more experience for an undefinable purpose.

For example when I flew out to California (correction I rented a car and drove out)to pick up my second coupe, I knew ahead of time (even though others said no it can't be a BHG because of this or that) that my car that I was purchasing had a BHG. I knew that I was going to be going through the 3.5 swap myself (with the aid of each of you) as a non mechanic. and I knew that it would have other issues that I didn't know about yet. But what I knew more than anything is that my love for this car was enough to endure all of these issues. I literally prayed that it would survive the drive back. There was one point it had smoked soooo bad that I thought F, I am not even out of California yet. I pulled over got some gas let her cool down and said to my car I know it is a long trip but I know you can make it; and she did. Now since that time my car has undergone alot of changes and I had done alot of work to it but I would not give back one moment of the hard work "I" have put into it or the frustration that it has caused me because as stated before often the greatest frustrations come from things we are most passionate about. So am I an enthusiast nah, I consider myself to be more than that I think of me as one who has a passionate love for my Legend.

Love/Hate Relationship

Very Well Wrote! Your story reminds me of when I purchased my 3rd and current legend a year ago after my friends and one of my mechanic friends said dont buy a 91 legend buy something newer. I got the car anyway on the ride home I was In Love I was is another world (LOVE) until the alternator belt blew (HATE). I had to pull over buy a new battery Install It then drive home. So yes I fell and share the passion even though I had that "oh no " felling. I have made my share of mistakes with cars mostly legends as you can tell. My legend Is currently waiting for mods to be installed obx headers, stage 3 clutch, Engine reseal,(LOVE) Im still doing research on the type 2 swap And a telion chip:giggle:

Hey B+O, Tnx for putting us in the 'Die-Hard Section' !
Love of Legends? Enthusiast? Passionate? Ok, our family is seriously hooked - I mean, how insane is it to buy a GS with a bad head gasket that's 3000 miles away, sight-seen by pics only, and then drive that GS across the country to get it home during a series of ice & snow storms? We take our Legend seriously IN THIS Family!
Both Joey & his older sister learned how to drive, and took their road tests on a Legend, and that's all both of them drive right now! How many 13 yr old kids join a Legend Forum and stick with it 5+ years straight? (and that forum took that kid seriously too)! We take our Legend seriously IN THIS Family!
On weekends, our driveway & garage looks like a Legend repair shop, whether it be installing JDm headlights in Blingy's sedan, or working on BloodRiot's projector headlamps, or putting the perfect shine on C-Dog's Legend - our neighbors think we're nuts, what with all the Legends always in our driveway! And we're only glad to help, this is our passion!! There isn't a day or two that doesn't go by that our phone doesn't ring from someone owning a Legend, asking advice, or for an extra part we may have, (Yes Earl, your switches are on the way).
And I partially credit these great cars for the awesome relationship I have with my son - working on them together, driving across the country together, etc., all for the Love of a Legend!
Lastly, because of this love of a Legend, we have made some great friends & acqaintances, both on this Forum and just around town!! Even though there are so many we have not met in person, it seems as if we have known everyone here for years as close friends. The best part of that is that these friendships have no barriers like race, religion, ethnicity, etc., and to us, That's AWESOME!!

just my 2 cents worth, folks!

It's far too difficult to make a listing of the members who have demonstrated their loyalty to the Legend, but I do agree that it's easy to distinguish those who are in it for the long-haul versus those who only see the car as a mode of transportation or don't choose to truly become a part of the great "community" we have.

I heard they have cookies.
lol. If there's anyone who I'd categorize as die-hard, it's this guy right here. How many people can say they've been a moderator (several years running) on a forum dedicated to a vehicle they didn't even own? :)

Thanks B+O for the comment and I was serious about wanting a sig like the first one, I wanna put it on my Pocket PC (uh oh nerd alert lol).

Tyson that was so well said. I am even going to say that this community "to me" helps make the Legend was it is to me, there are so many various ideas and variations of what people are passionate about there car for that I feed off of that. I admit when I bought my first Legend I sat in it I drove it and had to have it but did little with it after that until I found this forum. And now I should probably be committed because I just can't stop.

I bought a Legend only because i "thought" they were super high mileage and KNEW they were nice driving cars. Its just a car to me.

I would rather spend my extra money riding my KTM and racing my Gas Gas.

Does that mean I am not worthy enough to be here?

Some of my past "collectables" are a 73 RS Z/28, 69 Camaro, 57 Chevrolet 2dr hardtop, 39 pontiac streetrod, 37 Chevrolet PU rod, 72 Vette, 95 Z28. I am an automobile enthusiast. I admire a wide range of cars.

Come on now. Is that even a question?

Everyone is welcome and invited to stay, you're more than worthy to be in the Legend Community! We invite you with open arms and jump at the chance to help you keep your Legend in top shape. You're family too.

What i say shouldn't make you doubt your worth or worthiness to be here:nono:

ROFL@you guys...The thread is about True Legend Enthusiasts, not about whether or not you're worthy to be on this forum or not...what kind of stuff is that?! everyone's welcome to be here...We love to keep the Community alive, keep growing, adding more members and family.

You guys are the reason i'm still here, plenty of times I was fed up with how things were going with the forum, with my car, but the people, the community, the family, and just that burning love of the car kept me here:lol:.

If you're a Legend Enthusiast, stay here. Nothing worse than an "Enthusiast" who doesn't stick around to help us out. There's people out there who love the car and don't know where to go, don't know what to do. We need to stick together to help these cars last as long as there are parts for them.

4cruizin said it best...Long-haul/Mode of Transportation. That will distinguish most people here. I rarely take back what i say, but i clarify it for better understanding. I recognized those who's commitment is more to just themselves and their cars, but to the whole community.

Telion, definitely, your work with the ECU helped a great deal, and seeing you go from a n00b with a plan, to being "the man" was cool as hell...LE:yes:

Enthusiasm is the reason I have 2 coupes right now and also the reason (as-well-as sentimental value) for the one in my sig being sent to be repaired! I'm a Legend-Head and I'll be the first to admit it. I go through withdrawal when my wife drives my car!:giggle:

I'm a car enthusiast all day.... I took my driver's test in a 92 legend sedan back in 97 and I always planned to own one...I'm generally a lover of all cars (except german ones LOL) but the stance and the look of the legend is what I fell for...Gettin to know the drivetrain got me more infactuated with the legend (2nd gen sedan) and being a shade tree mechanic I can say FOESURE I'm a Legend Enthusiast:)

I eat, sleep and sh!t LEGEND! Meaning:

When I'm working on my car, can't stop to get food. The wifey usually have to beg me to come in to eat! And when I do, I take the food right out with me (of course with lots of napkins, making sure not to get any food grease on my baby!

When I'm in my bed chillin' (just to clarify ~ only when we're just chillin, :naughty:) with the wife, my ledg is on my mind! <:werd: I think something is wrong with me. :D

And last but not least: I'm on the crapper, I'm thinking about what next to do to my legend!

I paid $10,000+ to purchase this car in beginning of '00. The car had 87,000 on the Odometer. Could I have gotten it cheaper? Yes! But you see, I was feening!!

On the first day I got her, I took her home, washed, cleaned paint, waxed and polished her, then went out to show her off. Bam!! Smoke is coming from inside the hood! Was I worried? Yea! But I also knew that I was going to keep this car, no matter what! It turned out to be a hairline crack of a seam on the radiator. I replaced with brand new koyo racing radiator and fortunately, all has been good so far! The way I see it is, even if I ever (God forbid) contract the dreaded BHG disease my love for the car would not be affected.

I've put well close to 5G's into this car and still have plans to keep going!
Like Blingting stated, I also have a closet with both JDM and self-restored parts that are in the process of being put on! Legend parts are scattered throughout my office!
I've spent close to one grand, fighting my ex-fiancée over the title. When I could have easily just bought another Legend (have put too much blood, sweat and tears into this one to just let it go!)

I'm always being told that: "that's all you care about" by ex-girlfriends and by ex & current wife/s. (Note to myself; I love my wife. Don't know why she would say something like that? :paranoid:)

I have a '99 Durango as my current daily driver. If all goes as planned, my fully stocked, black on black '08 Range Rover Supercharged will be side by side, right next to the Legend in the New Year.
Even then, the LEGEND will still be #1 in my heart!

How's that for Legend love?
PS I think Acura f@cked up when they discontinued this body style, interior included!

I consider myself an enthusiast. AFterall this is my 2nd legend and my 1st one I had to let go due to BHG. I may not be willing to engine swaps in my garage like some of the other 'hardcore enthusiasts' though haha..

Don't forget EK. Even though he doesn't show up here anymore. He was inspiration for my previous legend.

Raises his hand as a true Legend enthusiast...

I've been driving Legends since 1996 (had a G1 and now a G2, both coupes), and although my '94 sits garaged these days, it's not going anywhere :)

If we had a forced induction package to buy, Legends would be more attractive to many people.

k.

P.S.
Will the real Slimshaddy please stand up?

this thread is very reassuring, i thought i was insane, my parents dont like that i own the legend, they keep telling me they will buy me a new car, my dad wants to buy me an a4 turbo or a volkswagen rabbit for college, but i told him i want none of those cars, i wanta black acura legend coupe and i ahve been arguing with my parents for several months to win the ability to do this, and every time i do something it takes weeks of plannign because my parents think i will kill myself working on the car, my dad has to check the electronics work i do ( he has a masters as an aelectrcial engineer) and my brother calls me an idiot and laughs at me with his audi s4, telling me crap about the advantage of trubos, and then my freinds who are like, why don tyou want to hang out with us? .. well i have to fnish project on car then they are always like WHY YOU GOTTA BE LIKE THAT ALWAYS WORKING ON YROU CAR and they never understand, i dont think anybody understood me and my passion for the legend, luckily for this reassuring thread, but i cant help speculate that i am insane and on a forum full of insane legend enthusiasts lol..

I got evicted from an apartment I had back in the day when I decided to drop money on the Legend instead of pay rent. I ended up living in it for a few weeks. Know what? Given the chance to do it again, I totally would. Nothing like that soft supple leather smell and that "Legend" scent (I can't explain the smell) to curl up to at night.

To me, a true enthusiast appreciates the car for what it is bone stock. No turbo or 18" rims or dropped suspension, just stock. I'd give damn near anything to do what Tyson has done. My .02

put it this way... I've been here since 02. Nothing has stopped me from coming back. Still have the G1 and it doesn't burn oil at 233k although it leaks some... I think I must be doing something right staying on here.

P.S. I want to sell the G1... but only to get a G2. ;)

Ken u trader lol. j/p. i still drive my G1, especially when it still throwing smoke. Shit i luv my Legend. if the engine dies, i get another one to replace it. there is no way in hell im getting rid of it. im too attached to it. even my gf says that too lol.

I consider myself a true legend enthusiasts for many reason, I agree that the acura legend is a b*Tch car but for me the one more reason to love it. I just wanna list all the problem i had with my car and im sure all of you went to one or two of these problem but i think im the only one who went to all these problem and what makes the problem worst is i fix everything except for the type II installation, you might find this boring but im sure theres some who's some what interested, Heres what i go through owning one, I get pull over once a month for know reason, i spend most weekend at the wreckyard pullin parts, change thermostat at -30 degrees outside 2 in the morning, head gasket quit on me and drove through winter without heat thanks for this site i made a good decision to swap type II, i can go on and on but i'll stop here and i think for all the sacrifice i did i consider myself a true legend enthusiasts
