*Hurry* Help, Oil drain plug stuck!

I've seen the PB blast work wonders when left sit. My buddy had satan-spawn bolts on the lower control arms of his cherokee. After soaking the bolts for three days (two applications per day), we went to remove them they were off and new control arms bolted up in 30 minutes. I would give the plug another spray, let it sit overnight, spray it again in the morning, and use an impact wrench with your firiend's air compressor. You've got the right idea waiting for airtools. sorry to hear its puting up such a fight.

use a breaker bar and kick it with your foot.

I am about to kick the car with my foot LOL. I wish I could get the car that high off the ground to be able to kick it.

I went to the store and got a bottle when you mentioned it earlier, I will continue to spray it and wait till tommorow. Thanks!

yep, you should be turning it counter clockwise when looking up at it from under the vehicle. If the wrench is on the plug and handle is pointed at the driver's side rocker panel, (12 o'clock is the muffler, 3 o'clock is thee passenger side, 6 is the headlights and 9 is the driver's side) you should be turning it from the driver's side through 6 o'clock towards the passenger side rocker panel.

Nas, the drain plug has standard threads. I'm certain of it - righty tighty, lefty loosey . Since i have only changed the oil in my Legend several times, I can't verify your question of which way the wrench should move when turning.

Thanks Dave. I am taking it to a buddy's house today to try and remove it.

use a vise grip.. a big one, make sure its really tight on the bolt since its strip, then hit the handle of the vise grip with a hammer, the impact of the hammer hitting will loosen it up.

Most likely an air wrench with no regard for the proper torque. Last time I took it to the dealer they did an oil change -- put a quart too much oil in and totally f-ed the drain bolt and washer. If they cant get that right, imagine...

That's why they work at Econo-Lube for $10/hr instead of the Stealership for $40/hr.....

Last time I took a car to a lube place for an oil change was a week after I got my '88 Accord. I had been going there for about a year, so they knew me. When I picked it up I took it straight to the alignment shop. An hour after I dropped it off at the alignment shop, they called to say my oil drain plug had a bad leak, they tried to tighten it for me but it was stripped. The lube shop probably stripped it, but either way they had to know about it but didn't bother to say a word to me when I picked it up. If I hadn't taken it to the alignment shop, I could have blown the engine... I didn't bother going back to yell at them, I just never went back, EVER!!

Finally got the ba$tard guy off!!! I tried damaged bolt removers to no avail. Finally was down to the chizzel but then I was really worried about damaging the oil pan. I was at sears buying the tools when I went to the automotive dept and talked one of the techs to help me get it open. They put it on the lifter and it took 3 guys huddled around trying to figure out how to get it open. They used a pipe wrench and some other bolt breaking device and it finally came out. Thanks to all that helped.

Better late than never...
Had similar broblem once, (not with Legend) when engine was hot i sprayed the oil plug with "cold/ice spray", plug shrinks little bit when it gets cold and that helps it to get loose.
Very helpfull stuff (the spray) when installing bearings etc.

Did you fish around in the opening for damage? How easily did the bolt go back in after this?

I put a new bolt and washer and it went in perfectly. I monitored for any leaks and have found none, drove it around for a while as well.

Damn, its on sale for $45 bucks(oil boy). Looks like it can save a lot of headache But you still have to get to the oil filter.

oil boy oil extractor
just put the tube down the dipstick hole
and pump the oil out the top next time

Only problem with that is that it probably doesn't get all the oil out, the drain plug is at the lowest point of the oil pan so ALL of the oil will flow out. If the dipstick hole points to the lowest point of the oil pan it should work fine, but I'll bet it doesn't...

yea, it probably depends on the car,

i've heard very good things about them on the CL-S,
but i haven't heard of anyone using it on the Legend...
i searched and couldn't find any reviews of it on this board

has anyone actually tried it?
if not, i'll try it and post the results when i'm done,
