I got ANOTHER egr trouble code

1031 Views 7 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  4HondaOwner
I literally switched out my egr a year ago, cleaned out the intake manifold and that little pipe that connects from the egr. That pipe was ridiculously clogged BTW but basically I did everything I was supposed to do to have the egr good for awhilw so why am I getting the same code now??

edit: BTW, I recently had some work done in the shop. I had a rough idle and my speed sensor was jacked up. They fixed it, however, they did some real shoddy work because although those problems have been fixed, I had a coolant leak from my radiator hose and my engine started to overheat past the middle line. I noticed the clamp on one of the ends of the hose was very loose and the hose itself looked like it wasn't 100% on all the way. After fixing he hose and tightening the clamp myself, and then adding coolant, the overheating has basically stopped. However, the temp gauge will randomly flirt with rising to the middle line. For the most part, it stays on the line right before the middle, but occasionally jumps up to the middle, which isn't too bad, but it really shouldn't be moving at all. I have had no other leaks and all the hoses look good. What gives?

Hey, sounds frustrating. Was the Thermostat changed by shop? If so, confirm it is
an Acura T-stat, not an OEM equivalent. You may need to inspect it yourself to
insure the T-stat is the correct one and is oriented correctly (relief hole in the upper half.) Second item: have you tried bleeding air out of the coolant? That alone might solve your issue if it had a leaky hose. There are about 22 hoses in the cooling system. Sometimes it is hard to find the leaky culprit. If the hoses are old, a shop can create cracks in the process of leaning, pushing, pulling, etc. GL, Keep posting re progress.
Thanks for the reply but no I haven't changed the thermostat. And where can I find an acura stat, looked online but can't find one. Also no I haven't tried bleeding the coolant system.
Thermostat is dealer part number 19301-P8E-A10

About $30.
Cy, Before starting to buy parts; read up on the overheating thread by
Mike Diaz on this site's home page. The online service manual tells how
to bleed the coolant system. Do that. I will post a link when I can.

What code are you speaking of? I thought 93 cars didn't have OBD 2 ports? I have a failed NO emission on a 93 legend 4dr. Thanks
If you want me to come over and bleed out your cooling system with a Lisle Funnel System, let me know.
