I reckon it is a TYPE I, Even though the speedo goes upto 160 (and I have taken it upto 151 ).

The brakes are another indicator as mine are single piston as opposed to the TYPE II which are dual piston.

The Type II looks like a US/JDM special in that it has a few more horses under the hood.

151 :O - I've taken this Legend to 125 and i thought, its not worth it! My previous 91' G1 Legend i took to 135 and it still had a bit of pedal to go!

So its a type I - I've just installed my bayou type II chipped ECU over the weekend - It is compatible right? The engine light seems to come on aswell whenever i hit high revvs...

I am a little concerned with that auto leveling system you guys have.

What is the difference between EDM and USDM Headlights?

 

You know for years now we have tried many times to set up a swap program for EDM lights. No one ever thought of trying JDMs. This will probably be a good thing for all.

What is the possibility of making it happen?

Ooh, our EDM's are complete of glass. And we have also a control system what is able to adjust the postion of our headlamps. That one is called MLS "Motorized Leveling System" controlled by a switch in the center console area next to the heat switches. This is used when you load down the trunk that will make the rear drop and the headlights to aim slightly up. You can lower the headlights aim by this switch and motorized system. There is either 2 or 3 positions depending on how much you need adjustment. Here a pic to see how it looks like...

Here you can see bothe Mike's during installing Mike D's EDM's Mike Diaz's EDM's. You can see the different? Yeah, EDM's have a different beam pattern. Mike told me, that the beam pattern is more brighter. Dunno I never noticed that. Many months before, I promised Mike to trade with him. Means to start a straight swap. At that time during my stay in OH we finally got the chance to swap our headlamps. Now Mike has mine and I have his phantastic USDM's (Yeah). And the best is: Both lapms fits 100% !!! No different, except that I described above. I love the USDM's much better than my EDM's. But we all knows: Everyone has different tastes. And I love USDM's more than the EDM's. Just bc I love the USA !!! Crazy, eh? -Mike

Yes...I heard of that system recently...they are on the higher end cars like Mercedes-Benz. But I think the Main purpose for the Mercedes-Benz is when you accelerate hard the nose/front end of the car goes up and the self leveling system would adjust the headlights so that you dont blind anyone that is driving in front of you. I didn't know that Acura had a similiar version of that system back in the early to mid 90's. I guess Acura's are pretty advance for it's time.

Sure, my friend. That's the switch what Graeme aka LegendGS will get. I promised him to send the switch and the spec holder (plate). Because I don't need it anymore. Just bc I got my USDM's from Mike !!! -Mike

I want JDMs, but you guys are right in that glass is tougher. Would I have to change my HID bulbs from H4 to 9005/6 or are they H4 in the JDMs as well?

You don't have ? Why? I thought that UK and GER has the same standard equipment. In Germany we have only the LS-E type. Means we have here no Legend without Heated Seats. So I tought always that UK got the same type like here. -Mike

Nah, mine doesn't have heated seats either. I really want them!!!

 

I think it was an optional extra on UK cars. They have everything apart from TCS, heated seats, Type II engines, Handbrakes, Bose systems and the Acura badges!

Shapps, normally (not basicially) I'd to say that EDM's are better equipped than UK. But that's totally wrong. You know why? Well, UK Legends (RHD) are better equipped than EDM's. They have more stuffs what I miss, lots of stuff. Like Cig Lighter (Rear Console), the 2nd Wood Trim around the seat switches, Foot Brake... ! I envy you guys. Same like USDM's. -Mike
