legend should get better gas mileage, but the cadi does have some sick options, ie, autoleveing suspension, rain sensing wipers, Electrochromatic Exterior Mirrors, autohead lights, Electrochromatic Rear View Mirrors, but it is slower then legend and legend is much much more fun to drive. but it also had a V8 and RWD which is fun as well... me personally i don't like legend sedans but the coupe is nice.
You got some stuff right but this STS is a LOT quicker. I mean the legend is nice but this car is scary fast.

Only the brand new STS is RWD .... man a LOT of u guys are full of misinformation ....

i though it was rwd, rwd would sway me to the sts... 96 sts is 7.3... my durango was that fast and my legend is faster then my truck was. but maybe your sedan is slower since its not a type2 and its auto, go with the sts it a touring edition, and it is a nice looking sedan

the legend had a nicer interior then the sts but the sts does look good and it should drive really nice but if you have the type1 LS i would say the sts is nicer but if you had the GS type2 6spd i would say keep the legend

I only want one car, so I have to choose
Well, I was in a similar predicament between whether or not to keep an Acura Legend or a truck (I really needed a truck). I decided to keep both and it is much nicer having two vehicles, it allows you to do major work on one, without any kind of transportation inconvenience. Also, it gives one a choice for what to drive on any given day.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

OK, I've said enough on this issue.

If you want to hear you should keep the STS, go on a Cadi forum.

Keep the Legend.
Thank you! Think about it, you are asking an Acura crowd if you should sell your Legend and buy a GM product.....what do you think their answer will be? You seem like you want the Cadi so just do what you want.... Who cares if the GM has a v8 and all those other "wonderful options", the Legend is reliable. Lets not forget the timeless design of the Legend, it's a beautiful car. The Cadi looks like an old people car IMO. If you want to hear support for the Cadi go to a different forum.

is there a Cadi forum ? Some comments were misguided and some very narrow minded. I am not surprised, but that's sort of what I expected.

Since I don't do major " cosmetic or performance mods" to my Legend or have a lot of breakdowns that I try to fix myself, I asked my original question just to hear what the board members thought about my choice.

I would like to thank everyone who posted.
Merry Christmas and Happy Chanuka to everyone !

There are these, www.lincolnvscadillac.com, www.cadillacforums.com. Those are the only two I found and found them while trying to find battery location for my 99 STS (back seat btw). They seemed to be ok, but not too well organized and I never found the answer to my question, but I hope you have better luck. So post up there with questions they may be of better help. Good luck.

Its funny, but everyone who rides in the car likes it more than my Legend.
They like it because you own it, not them.

I would run away from the Northstar Cadillac. Even the new ones have one of the worst new owner satisfaction rates.

A coworker of mine had a beautiful 1997 Northstar Cadi. He loved it and raved up and down about it. Then in October he started to have driveability problems. The car wouldn't drive to full temperature before it would stall. It was computer/electronic problem. Very expensive to fix. So someone else at work bought it for $500. Couldn't fix it for anything and ended up selling it to the local salvage for $250. They're absolute piles of dung.

Just call around to the local salvage yards and ask if they have a certain motor in good, running condition and how much it costs. That's how you find out how reliable something is.

For example, a 3.0L Ford might be $300 and a running Northstar motor, well that you probably wouldn't find that.

Stu, when I had the cadi everyone loved it, it was a soft comfy ride, faster than the Legend, and even softer leather lol. Another big expense you will run into...is when your suspension starts wanting to go out...like it would say the display something like ; suspension service, or something similar...and that costs big money. I think Cadi is a great car when it comes to confort(sp?), but when it comes to repairing it and maintanance...its a bigger pain in the azz than the Legend.

well no one would pay more than $ 6500 for a mint 1996 STS with 64,000 miles so I returned the car to my stepdad and got back into my Legend back today ,,,,, sweet !

That Cadi was nice and comfy, but no way I would choose it over my Legend. I am glad I dont have to drive it anymore ! That Northstar motor sure sucks the gas good, and I won't miss gasoline fill ups that cost $75.00
