A dealership will always bend you over the table. Find a local Honda/Acura specialist to do the work and see if you really need what they are saying.

 

Another place to take it for an opinion is an auto A/C shop as thats their specialty.

 

They are def. trying to pull their paychecks from your>:bootyshak

 

i cost me $1500 to get the entire A/C system replaced

 

Try jumping the A/C clutch relay and see if it blows cold. IF it does then either the realy is bad or the Fan Control module is not working properly.

 

The shop I use did the compressor/dryer/expansion valve on the '92, it had already been retrofitted for R134a, cost me $960 with a 2 year warranty.
They're general automotive, do all my work I'm too lazy or not smart enough to do.

A/C repairs are really expensive ... but the worst part is they fix one part and next thing you know another part breaks ... it can keep going like this untill you give up. go broke or have paid way too much to get it fixed.

Best case is you have a leak, they find and fix it and you are OK, but in my experience this rarely happens. I have driven two years without A/C in my Legend and even though I love my car, I would take my own advise and probably sell it before I would try to fix the A/C

BTW I was quoted $3,000 to fix mine by the dealer and $2,500 for the repairs at an independent A/C shop.

 

Most repairs I've had to deal with have been the compressor leaking.
When you break a system open it's a good idea to change the dryer and expansion valve. The longer you go with without fixing it the more it can cost, over time o-rings/hoses can dry out and other internals can become contaminated. Then it gets really expensive...
Shop around, you can get it done for under a $1000.
They've already sacked you on the 134 conversion, that part's behind you.
