Ok...what am I doing wrong?

I got the blue coloured bulbs...and they have a greenish tint when they are behind the cluster

So I'm gonna have to have a set of 160 Reverse indiglows sent over...:(

i kinda see the same thing in the console shift indicator-- am i the only one?? i just put the 74 in and it looks kinda green. maybe i should go with red throughout... i think i will have the guy send me a red one to see how it looks...

i just got my blue bulbs for the door lights. they're great except they're not fully painted. it's like 90% blue 10% clear. it looks wierd because the white light is getting through. do you think they'll send me out some new ones?

u just hafta ask em. if its a defect then they should hook u up...

Hey guys sorry I've been off for awhile, but my mouse decided to stop working for some reason, like the driver for it got erased? and I haven't fixed it and thats really annoying and it's hard to use my computer...also I've been really sick forawhile here...

Legendary - yeah 194 is the same as 168 those are just the most common name(s) for that bulb, I think he has it under 194 wedge or something close, I bought I think like 6 incandescent 74 bulbs, for use (I actually bought 7 but one is a superwhite to test out the color difference) 4 go in my a\c control and 1 in my change drawer\ash tray and 1 in my shifter lights since I'm auto. but aren't you a climate control so your may be different then mine, and from mikeD's pics I found, it looks substantially different. I also bought like 3 led 74 type bulbs from superbright if it makes a different, one for my footwell, one for my ignition ring and one for my cigarette lighter ring. There is a little place on the cover where you can put a flat head screwdriver and then just pry, I know it was kind of scary doing mine, cause it did feel so flimsy, I think i actually worked my way around to the thin part and it just like popped out, which kind of scared me, if you want a visual I think the owners manual tell you how to take it out so you can replace the bulbs. just take your time with it it will come...Also the silver xenon bulb is more for like clear corners and stuff so you can't see the blue inside the lens, so it won't refract all around, like on cars with blue headlights how their headlights are all blue some people don't like that, and they buy those silver bulbs for the corner so it still shines blue, but when parked and stuff the lens is just clear it doens't reflect the blue bulb thus making it look blue everywhere I bought some of the non silver ones to test...which I still have to do as soon as my order from superbright comes in...

Shapps- I haven't gotten to that point in my project yet, but what I bet it is is that there are these strips of tinting in there stock, and maybe the blue is not strong enough to cut through the green tint, you may have to remove that so that it can shine blue, I have a strip like this in my a\c control, but I don't know how big a deal it is that I remove it, I'm gonna ask klein if he did his, or maybe I'll play with mine and if it's not too hard I'll just take it out...but at any rate I et you have a tint strip in there, or maybe just like little tint squares (I have those too in my a\c control) so you may need to remove those...

Perzian maybe yeah just send that back, my bulbs are a little funky in shape, but not really a big deal and they are fully colored....

and here is a note to all the superwite festoon bulbs on autolumination, are NOT 5w they are 10w, thats double the stock wattage, and trust me those bulbs can get hot...the blue festoon bulbs are 5w which is wierd but who knwos maybe he gets them from two places, he told me they were both 5w but I got my light yesterday, and it is clearly stamped 12v10w on the superwhites, so who knows what I will do with those...but I sure am glad I bought both blue and superwhite :) I can't tell what the superwhite 194 bulbs are but perhaps those are not 5w either, they don't say, so maybe they are...I just didn't want anyone buying the superwhite festoons and thinking they are getting 5 w but end up getting 10w...

For all of you that are interested in upgrading your interior lighting I finally found bulbs that work. I tried LED's but didn't like the blueish tint at all and all of the "Xenon" bulbs I found (like Raybig) were rated at least 10W and $9 each. Can't do 10W since I didn't want to roast my harness and melt the lenses and the price was rediculous.

I found this site http://autolumination.com and ordered 7 31mm 3022 festoon bulbs and 2 74's for my dome, map, door and footwell lights. Installed them last night and they are exactly what I was looking for - very bright, white light and they're only 5W! (OEM spec). The glass on these bulbs is blue but when on they are definately white - almost a halogen type of light like you see on the newer cars.

So, if you want a nice lighting upgrade for around $12 I recommend these.

Next on the list is maybe doing the 74's in the dash (heater/ac vent buttons, etc.) They have multiple colors available. I'm thinking of playing around with red/amber for the buttons.
Yeah, good job buddy. The Godamn bulbs are
10w get your facts straight before you post.
I waisted $18 because I'm not going to have some white and some yellow. FKN newbie:mad:

hey 2g-- i accidently ordered the plain white ones and they were stamped 10 watts but he told me via email that they were 5watts. you might want to email him and make sure of the wattage before you count em out- and let me know what he says!! i was gonna order a few led's for my auto climate control, but i have no idea how to replace those bulbs!! how did klein and mike do it??

oh, and if you wasted your money on the wrong product, maybe you should have read what you were buying before ordering. did you ask the guy you bought them from if he would refund?? you dont hafta be a jackass about it. if 18 bucks is gonna break you then get an 89 civic!!

Yikes stalker...i think that was a bit uncalled for. You were ultimately the person who actually bought the bulbs, you could have easily done your own research if $18 is that much money to you.

OK guys,

Has anyone actually bought the bulbs mentioned on this thread?

Are they any good? Are they actually "white" like he says they are?

Anyone???

i just received my bulbs and the 31mm festoon bulbs have stamped on them 12v10w. however, i checked the technical data on their website and this is what i found...

Bulb #: 3022 3175
Voltage: 12-14 volts
Power: 3 watts
Current: .25 amps
Base : S7 (T2 1/4)
Globe: 5/16" dia (7mm)
Overall height: 1-1/4" (31mm)
Description:Single Filament, Festoon Base

...so i'm a bit confused!? hopefully the info on the bulbs is wrong and they're actually 12v3w!

like i said the standard colored bulbs are 5 watt but labeled wrong. i am not sure about the xenon bulbs, but i hope to find out soon....

Hey stalker thanks for the flame. You should get your facts straight before you throw that kind of BS around. I've owned my car since new which I'm sure is a lot longer that just about anyone on this board. It is pristine both mechanically and cosemetially. Do you really think I would share this info with fellow members if it wasn't accurate? I take pride in my car too.

The Xenon bulbs I purchased are stamped 5w AND I verfied with that they are 5w from the company. I don't know what they sent to any of you guys that bought them. If you have questions about it just call or e-mail them. As I've said before these bulbs are a significant improvement - a lot brighter and whiter light.

Trust me I've been looking for a bulb upgrade for a long time and have only found 10w and there was no way I would run the risk of watting up on my car. I have checked them after leaving them on for a while and there is no appreciable increase in heat over stock. So, as any reasonable person would summize based on this the bulbs actually must be stamped accurately and the company selling them wasn't lying.

I only posted this since I felt that others on this board would like to upgrade the interior lighting from the dull yellow OEM look and this did it for me. If you're not happy with them then so be it. Sorry to hear that the $18 you invested is, in your view, wasted. I "wasted" more than that trying out the LED's. Its the cost of expermentation.

this is a direct qoute from an email that was sent to me from the owner of the company when i asked about the festoon bulbs. PLEASE READ CAREFULLY!!!!

"All the 31mm festoon bulbs are 5 watt.

All 39mm festoons are 10 watt.

The end caps used at the factory are sometimes interchanged, but the power draw is a function of how long the filament is. You cannot fit a 39mm (10 watt) filament in a 31mm bulb."

thanks for the hard work 95g!!

stalker, i am sure it bothers you to think that you could count on someones word on here. anger is understandable, but i think i speak for everyone when i say that we really try to keep this a mature, easygoing forum here. if you have a problem such as this, use the private message function(pm) and settle it that way. flaming someone on this site is only gonna make people second guess your character, not the other person's. the bulbs work, so enjoy them! if they dont, chalk it up as a loss and charge it to tha game!!

I think its good to get feedback from anyone that has installed these, but you can trust my description. They are A LOT whiter and brighter than OEM. They're not HID white, more halogen white. I installed one next to my rear dome and left the stock bulb in to compare. Side by side there is a BIG difference.

The bulb glass is blue, so I was skeptical at first. I absolutely did not want blue lights (some of you may like that look and if so I would suggest LED). I tried the LED festoons and 74's and did not like them at all. Light dispursion was narrow and they were definately blue and not nearly as bright. These bulbs were exactly what I was looking for.

95last of the great ones,

I have faith in you. haha. So if i want to change out all my existing bulbs (I have a '93 LS Coupe), how many of each type will I need?

I don't plan on touching any of the climate control bulbs.

8 31mm festoons and two 74's. You have 3 in your front dome (2 maps and center dome light), one for each door, two in the rear dome, plus the trunk if you wan to do that, otherwise order 7. You will need 2 74's for the footwell wedges. Good luck!

95lastofgreatones,

You bought your car brand new in 95? Wow. What did you pay out the door for it? You had the chance to see a whole bunch of new legends, I'm envious.

Do you recall seeing many 6-speeds on the dealer lot?

I was only 15 back then but I think I had already been bitten by the Legend bug!

I couldnt find the 74 wedge bulbs on the site. Can someone link it for me? Thanks

So that makes you 24 - I'm a little older by about 13 years. At the time I finally pulled the trigger on the car they were getting scarce - especially the coupes. It was late Dec. '95 and I had this one shipped in from Chicago. In hind site I should have gone with the 6sp, but its been a great car. $40k sticker, just under $32k out the door with 40 miles on the odo.

Go here for your 74's http://autolumination.com/74.htm they're the .99 cent incadecent in super white.
