Being the winter I checked my Villager and its awfully low on coolant. I was thinking of running to the Ford dealership and getting Ford coolant. Only reason why I want to do this is b/c I hear that Prestone has a high cilia content which tends to damage the water pump. I used prestone on my Legend last winter and having recently changed my waterpump I saw it was leaking.

My question is: So should I just use prestone or ford brand coolant?

thanks,
jon

Hey Jon, don't use prestone. I asked my mechanic about Prestone after you told me to get mines flushed and he said that it does have a high amount of cilia and that was probably what caused my water pump to go bad a few months ago. Hope that helps.
