Hi,
I was going through the various maintenance schedules I've found (the owners manual, etc.) and one of them (the Newbie FAQ) recommends replacing the "ABS High Pressure Hose" every 30K.

Is replacing this $50 part every 30K mi really necessary? Can I just wait until it starts leaking and the ABS light comes on?

Would a hypothetical leak in this ABS hose by any chance interefere with the more crucial regular braking system (I believe the reservoirs are linked)?

I have 119K mi on my 94 Acura Legend L sedan so I'd rather not put additional money into this car unless it's necesary. As far as I can tell from the maintenance records I inherited from the previous owners, this part has not been replaced.

Thanks in advance for your advice.
Regards,

Unless theres a leak it has no affect on the abs lite, and in 18 yrs I've never seen one leak and have only replaced 2 or 3.

Braking

The ABS braking system and the standard braking system are totally seperate. If you loose the ABS system to a malfunction, the standard braking system is still operable.

So what's the bottom line? Do I need to be proactive in replacing this high-pressure hose or can I just ignore it until I find a leak and the ABS light stays on?

could this also be the reason the abs light comes on minutes after driving?
It's either a leak or a wheel speed sensor.

At the risk of being flamed for bumping an old thread - anyone know why it's a replacement item that doesn't seem to get replaced?

doesn't necessarily mean that it needs to be replaced but... you could if you need to. ;)

Probably because dealers like to jack you on pricing for stuff you don't need, and then tell you it's good for your peace-of-mind. Every once in a while, people catch on though...heh.

I believe that ABS high-pressure hose replacement is every 60K not 30k miles. Funny (not so funny) is that on my way home following the hose replacement, my ABS started to set a code (1-8).
