I have one particluar intertior piece on my car that I would like to dye from a dark grey color to the factory Taupe (type E) color.

I want the match of colors to be pretty close and the color to stay permanently. The piece is plastic.

Does anyone have any ideas? Has anyone done it?

Go to your local library a check books on Autobody Repair. The local body shop supplier can sell you the primer and mix the paint. The hardest part is making sure the part is clean of wax and silicone. Adhesion is usually the major problem in refinishing rigid interior plastic parts. The other issue is that no paint will hold up like a color-impregnated part. If the part you are dealing with is inexpensive, order a new part in the new color.
