Ok, here is the problem. I have this grindy noise that only happens in 1st or 2nd gear, that I can tell. And it only happens when I'm speeding up. Anyone know wtf I'm talking about?

Is your Legend stick or automatic. If its automatic, I think your tranny is done.

Oh, please don't tell me my tranny is done. It's not a stick. Ok, it doesn't make that noise when it's shifting. And it kind of comes and goes. It doesn't remind me at all of what it would sound like if I was driving a stick and grinding the gears.

Is there more than one differential? I know they put a differential something or another on when I had all of the other work done, but at that point my brain was spinning at the the $2600 price tag. I do want to do a flush, I haven't done that since I bought the car and I don't know when one was done last.

Thanks! I have had a weird wheel noise that I'm taking it in to have checked. Maybe those two noises are related. I know my calipers should be good, since they were frozen and I had to have them replaced. I probably just posted this for the comfort I get from you guys when you tell me it's probably not my car about to blow up, lol! I'm so paranoid about anything major after all of the $$ I've put into it already this year! I would love to come to your Chicago meet, but all of my extra money is going into my NALM jar!

Also the cat covers sometimes rusts and breaks of a bit and you can get a noise do to the vibrations and it'll happen mostly when you are cruzing. This is also a metal on metal sound and can/might be confused with some type of gear noise(metal on metal). This should be the easiest and most inexpensive start, because the flush will cost you a bit, but I'm sure if you ask your reg mech to look at the conditions of the lower and upper cat assm cover he prob won't charge you too just look. Good luck

Oh, I see. I did have to have part of my heat shield removed already because of the ridiculous noise it was making. I will keep you guys updated. Thanks for all of the suggestions! I'm going to see when I can get my mech to look at it. He's cool. I've spent so much there already he checks it out for free for me.

Yeah catalytic converter, not the cat on your avatar.
:giggle: cute. I know what a catalytic converter is, I want to keep mine so I don't go to the mall anymore.:( We are having an outbreak of people stealing them so they can sell them at the junkyard.

I said assembly(assm) so you or your mech wouldn't think that I was referring to the heat shield under the body, but the covers on the cat itself.
Remember that the cat has a cover on top and bottom so could be the one you did not remove. Hope it's this cause it's easy and cheap to remove the other cover vs almost any other problem that it could be. Keep us updated and good luck.
