See if you can help me with this one. 1995 Coupe L with stock Bose. Installed Kenwood KDC-C717 10 CD changer with the HONKEN adapter from Peripheral Interface Components. Went in like a breeze and you can also control all 10 CD's from the head unit. Here's the situation:
Many of the CD's in the cartridge require that I lower the volume to less than a quarter turn to calm down some of the distortion. Real heavy bass in primarily the rear speakers. For some CD's the bass knob is at the minimum level to control the distortion. There is definitely a difference in the radio volume and the CD volume. The CD changer does not have a separate amp hidden in there somewhere. Doesn't show up in the specs. Something seems to be out of phase. The perception is that the bass from the rear speakers is a half a second late. The 6x9 Bose rear speakers were replaced earlier this year with 6x9 Sony coaxials. Did the best I could to explain this. What do you think?
