My Konis are getting installed and I just got a call from the shop telling that some part from my Konis was missing so basically they can't install the rear ones.

I have no idea what he was talkin about but he was sayin something about the bottom of the strut by the brake line, like a bolt or sumthin that wasn't with the Koni's. And without that the strut wouldn't stay in place.

   SO basically now I have to pay for NOTHING. :(

Does anyone know what could be WRONG!?

That's kind of strange. The rear Koni's should come with everything needed for installation. The front Koni's need the spring perch from the stock struts.

Well, I just got my car back form the shop. They didn't end up installing any of the Koni's. I had some springs put on and well personally I think my car handled better STOCK. It just seems really loose and bouncy now. And I also hear alot of clunking noise.

When I talked to the guy who worked on my car he said that he couldn't get the front perch off. He tried, but he said he just couldn't get it off and he didn't want to end up damaging anything so he didn't do it.

Then when I talked to someone else inside the shop (who wasn't workin on the car) he said my car was missing the piece as shown at the bottom. Not the actual perch but that piece that holds the shocks and brakeline. He said that he really didn't think I got the right shocks for my car.

SOMEONE HELP! THis is ending up costing WAY more then I expected. I don't know what to do now.

Those arrows are pointed to the front shocks, not the rear ones. You don't have to use anything for the rear shocks. You take off the bolts from the old shock and use them for the new shock.

For the front, you have to bang, really hard, and get those mounts off the stock front shocks, and put them on the new shocks. I did the whole suspension on the car myself (ground controls, konis) and I didn't use any power tools. I'm SURE a shop has the kind of tools to easily take them off.

Good luck.

What kinda springs did you get put on? Yeah you just pound them off. If they only did half of the job then you should tell them to forget about it. Tell them that you don't want the springs if you can't have it with the shocks cause it could mess up the springs or shocks because they aren't meant for eachother. Especially if you are hearing clunking noises.

The shop is lame.

The shop is run by morons. The kit comes with instructions first of all. If they read them then they would see that the brake lines don't even mount to the rear strut, but to the control arm. Morons. Make sure they don't charge you twice to have the struts installed, it's their fault that they didn't know what they were doing in the first place.

I agree, you have everytihg you need. The rear uses the lower mount bolt from the original shock. On top, it should come with its own nut, and it comes with its own crhome lower cpring perch. Don't put these spring perches upsidedown though. They mount well both ways, but one way actually will raise the car up.

As for the front, I just hammered the brake braket and lower spring perches off the front shocks myself. It took a couple of good wacks, but it sluips right off. Especially if you lubricate it. Get all your stuff back, take a picture for us of all the parts of the shocks that you have, and we can tell you if you are missing anything, which is sounds like you are not. Then, take it to another shop to be installed.

I have Suspension Techniques that I got from Doug. I'm sure the springs are good, but I have a feeling they didn't put them on right or something. There seems to be more noise on the front left side. Backs sound arrite.

They already charged me for installation. I'm supposed to be goin back Wednesday to try and put the Koni's on again (for more $$$). This time I'm goin to stay at the shop throughout the whole process.

Dude, that's BS. Don't pay them anything, or have them put it together and then refuse to pay. I wouldn't give them a cent, but I would give them an earful if they insisted that I pay. Who's shop and where is it BTW?

Well, I went back today and got everything fixed and worked out. NOW I can feel a difference. ESPECIALLY after driving around the past couple of days with my messed up suspension. :(

One thing tho, when my car just had the springs. The back was tucked in, but after the Koni's it has about a 1-2 finger gap.

I told him to set the front Koni's on the lowest perch and leave the rear ones in the stock postion since the front was higher then the rear with the springs alone, but I didn't think the back would raise up that much.

Anyways, overall im happy its done and I finally got my car back. :)

My koni's are on the low perch all the way around and the back tucks. If I were to do it again, I'd put them on the middle and have a little bit of a gap, but all in all, I'm happy with it :D.

And I went back and had the bumpstops cut...although they only did the front :(, but it rides like stock now..amazing.....and I love the way it corners and looks....congrats on the install.

Try this.

I'm not sure how short the ST springs are, but it's possible that if you jack up the rear-end and the spring is loose in it's pearch, they you can remove that snap-ring and lower the rear Koni's to the lowest perch w/out removing the strut.

Since my rear got raised wuite a bit after the Koni's, how would I go about checkin if the shocks weren't put in upside down?

Also, when I was lookin at the Konis in the front I could still see one ring so I'm guessing the fronts CAN'T be on the lowest perch but it still lowered it from what it was, but the BACK got raise more then a inch (close to 2). It basically looks stock now. B/c it was slammed and tucked in with the springs alone.
