just wire it to your dome light, as far as wiring leds it depends on what kind of job you're doing. all leds will require a resistor to guage amount of current running to them. ive done a crap ton of small projects with leds so if u have any questions just pm me. but yeh i would have it come on when u open your doors, if that is the choice you take then wire it to the dome light

just take your dome light assembly off, then find which wire is the power wire and the have then ground the other wire, pretty simple stuff
