It may be close....but the top end, those cars die out...i.e. after 60mph. I had a Gran Prix GT when doing my audits in FL...nice pickup, kinda quick actually, but it doesn't feel like the Legend, and I missed it actually...so go for it.
Legend Coupe Vs. Pontiac Gran Prix GT?

Ive got a 1991 auto coupe ls....
A buddy of mine's girlfriend has a 98 gran prix gt coupe, and he wants to race. Inspired by the Fast and the Furious, he wont race for anything less than 300 bucks. Yea a real tough guy. I just told him to race me in his 2002 cavalier (WOW!) but naturally he wont. So......... do i race him? I think the specs on his gf's gt are like 215 hp, 205 torque. Im not sure about the weight, and my car is alot older. I dont want to do it unless im sure i'll win, but he's bein all cocky sayin "I would bet you my life that ill smoke you", so it makes me want to unleash the fury of the coupe. So far ive only REALLY raced one car, a 95 mustang gt 5.0.... i had 700lbs of passengers, she had 350... and i smoked her. By sixty mph i was 2 car lengths ahead. So the main question is will i blow this pontiac away or will it be close? Its not a gtp, i wouldnt touch those, and i know this girl has no mods at all and a system in the back. If i have any chance of losin im not gonna do it, i dont wanna lose the money.... please advise

I have a 93 legend sedan 5-speed and my brother has a 2000 grand prix gt and all i had at the time was an intake and i blew his doors off from the line... if it were me i would gladly take his money... i would even race title for title on that one
race him race him race him. ive taken a couple GTP's in my GS 6-speed. im sure the coupe isnt that much slower, even with the auto. the gt is a joke. race race race

if u race him, try to make the race go far into the top end............take it to 100 or 110 and ull probably win for sure, no worries........................lol but at least to 70 ya kno.........

At first, in the beginning the Maxima took off on me by a car to 3/4 car's length, but when the legend hits like 3rd and 4th gear...it will take off. I came back to beat the Maxima going like 85 mph by a whole car and a half length.

So i think ill take the chance and show him what this 11 year old ("piece of japanese crap" as he says) car can do.

be careful with the GTP's.....they have about 240 hp....and with some little mods...they are pretty fast...we have a guy in the 12's here in chattanooga...actaully lee got to meet him yesterday...
Hey bro, be careful out there, and double check to make sure he hasn't shaved a "P" off of that "GT" lol. If you go for it, do it safely, show him what gives our legends their legendary name 
A Fagalier will be no contest whatsoever. I raced a friend's Z24 with rice mods, ie. I/E/altezzas. I had him in first gear and I'm sure everyone on here knows that an auto's first gear is disgustingly weak. By the top of 2nd @ roughly 67 I had 2 lenghts and I wasn't going to go anymore be it: traffic, waste of gas.
You should put a hurtin' on the Grand Prix as well.. Just watch out for the GTPs.
