Jesus I hope you are not serious. Thats called "engine braking" (simply put). Much more prominant in a manual.

The level of intelligence around here has taken a MAJOR fall in the past day or two.
actually, it's a little more than 'engine braking', it's computer controlled for ascent and descent.... the system is apparently called 'prosmatec'.
I think it's a good find, and informed a lot of us about features we didn't know our cars had. good work shaar.

Its not hill descent, or ascent.

just because it wont shift out of gear going 10mph, doesnt mean there is a specifically made "hill ascent" action taking place in the computer.

because thats what the systems do today. they limit you to like 3-5mph, no matter how much you throttle the car.
i can't read japanese, i can just go off what the website is translating for me, but from what i can tell, the computer is definitely changing gears based on what the car is doing, i.e it can tell you'e going downhill, so will drop a gear for you.
either way, systems may do that today, but we're talking about systems from over a decade ago
