If you get a TL is better be a Type-S, I wouldn't leave the Legend for anything less than a Type-S, and watch those trannys...

Actually I pulled into the gas station today, and there was a car next to me, a TL-S, he was checking my Legend out, he had some nice rims on it, dropped a little... WOW the TL-S looks much much nicer with some bigger rims and dropped a little, it was a white type of color... maybe beige or something... have to admit looked pretty good...rear looks better than the CL actually...

I think you'll be ahright, but like was mentioned before watch the tranny, you don't want to find yourself saying
OhMyGoditstheTranny.
And yes it better be a Type-S otherwise you will not be happy.
Oh yeah remember its not as roomy as the Leggend.

Lol....That's funny.

I think the new TL-S are roomier than the legend, at least the driver seat was. Even the new accords have roomier driver seat than my legend.

Tranny!

Whatch the tranny man....
Some have replaced the 2 or 3 times!!! Some have blown with as little as 15k miles!!!
Makes ya wonder why a car that constantly blows trannies gets a supercharger developed for it... Who knows what they are thinking!

the type S will be in the upward 30k and that's too much of a car for me at the moment. I don't know about the driver seats but I know the front passenger is somewhat smaller than the legend. The TL have 225 hp and they have tons of mods available. I'm lookiing for a pearl white and then put on an add on kit with some 18's silver 5 star-ish rims and 1.5 inch drop. That's probably the only mods I'll be doing to this car. I'm trying to avoid modding my car too much. I've already driven one of the nicest legend around so I'm gonna try to stay stock as much as possible with the exception of a custom sound system. Beside the TL what other choices are out there for around 20-23k?

I personally would not want to take the risk of having to replace the tranny prematurely. Too many of them have failed to consider
the car a reliable buy. One of the reasons I got a Legend is for the reliability in addition to the luxury. The TL is not in the same class as the old school reliability of what Honda and Acura were
about. Just my 2 cents.

Good Luck

well said.

And again, not knocking you, but I think of that as a step down...newer or not. Try for the RL so you are in the Legend family still, and not a new Vigor.

My comparison:
having a 98 500SL and getting a 03 E320

Why not get a 98 Lexus GS400? My friend got a great deal on a great condition 98 GS400 off of ebay fo about $26K. He paid an additional $800 or so to ship it to Hawaii. If you look on autotrader, there are millions of GS400 for sale. Some cheaper than others, but there are a lot of good deals for mid $20K range for GS400 with about 40-50K miles.

i would go with gs400 too

With all the talk of tranny trouble I wonder if they figured out the prob but dont want to let ppl know cuz loss of money if they have a recall, How many years/miles is under warranty and extended warranty for tranny? It would suck if your tranny went out after warranty. I think you will be happier with tl if you put as much mods on it as your legend.Ive driven a 2002 base and it is awesome the tranny shifted smooth as silk. You could also get a 2001 is300 lose space/but faster, better dealer service, and good aftermarket.Or 97+540i,m3. 97 porche boxster/s2000.

I like the TL too, but if you're lookin into a lexus, GS's are nice as well, however don't get an IS, i have a friend with I/H/E on it and personally it just added noise, not power, not sure if things will change after an AFC, but moving from the legend to an IS would leave u disappointed.
