what exactly is the difference between a 92 4 door legend (not concerned with what trim it is) and a 92 4 door vigor? i know that the vigors had 5 cylinders and the legends could have the 3.2, but what else is different?

The Legend is Honda's flagship vehicle and is completely its own car. It is nothing like any other Honda. The Legends have a larger interior. More power. Better fit and finish. Nicer headlights. Nicer exterior in general. Weigh a bit more. Oh, and just so you know, ALL 2nd-gen Legends (91 ~ 95) had the 3.2L motor... so it's not "could have" it's "did have." The Legend later became known as the RL.

The Vigor was based on the Accord. In fact, it was called the Accord Vigor in Japan and was considered just another trim level of the car. It is a stretched wheelbase Accord with a decent interior and some upgrades over the vanilla Accord, but in the end, it still isn't up to par with the Legend. The Vigor later became the TL.

why do you say that?
Vigors are good cars. If you like the car and can get a good deal on it than you should buy it with no regrets. If you have to think to yourself if you will regret buying the car than don't buy it. For many of us, the Legend was the car we wanted and that is what we bought. You could word your question a little differently. For example. What is the difference between a 98 Lexus GS400 and a 98 Lexus ES300? Both are good cars, but most people would rather have the GS400 if they could. So, while most of us feel the Vigor is a great car for its class, we just rather drive the Legend.

why don't you buy a Legend and a Vigor? I own a 1993 Vigor GS(stick) and A 1994 Legend GS(auto) and I love both cars but I use my vigor for everyday driving(work) and I use the Legend for cruising(you know what I mean):D

Ive driven a vigor once, it was in horrible shape so i cant really judge the performance or the quality of the ride, but there was something it had my legend doesnt. I forgot what it was lol..

I honestly wouldnt get a vigor, the headlights are kind of not my style. I just dont like the looks ig uess.

I would buy one, only if the Legend was unaffordable for me. Also, the 5 cylinder engine is very very reliable in the Vigor, unlike our HG blowing 3.2L. But, I still opt to replace my head gaskets (on both my Legends) rather than buy a Vigor. The choice is yours.

If you can find one thats clean and well taken care of and its a good deal I say get it. Like most honda's they are good reliable cars and they hold their value. I had a 92 Vigor GS before my Legend and to me the interior of the Vigor had a tad bit more charactor and I loved the torqe the car had, It was nothing for me to chirp the wheels at the take off. My biggest gripe was the interior room I don't know what they were thinking. Over all I loved the vigor It looked like nothing else on the road and still don't maybe a few ques from the Legend but it was different thats why when I upgraded I went to the Legend.

I don't know...the techs at Clair Acura didn't seem to think much of the 2.5 I5 in the Vigor and 2.5TL...

if you can't afford to get a legend, get a vigor, there cool cars, also other cars you wanna look at in its class is the 91-95 G20, 90-93 accord.. all these cars are reliable and good, may wanna check those out too..

Would the Legend still be a decent price after HG repair? Honestly, when I was looking for cars I didn't care wether it was a Vigor or Legend that I ended up with, it just had to be Acura/Honda. Now that I have a Legend I wouldn't care for a Vigor much, IMO they look a little cheaper in styling and my mechanic actually advised me against it because of the engine (pain to work on like Mike Diaz said).

I had the choice between my '93 Legend LS with 171K miles, and a '94 Vigor, I forget the trim level, with only 128K miles.....the Legend just won me over. ALSO, these forums make it worth it ;)

Well...

They are all right!

I am currently driving my 1992 vigor gs. The legend is alot bigger on the inside more luxurios (No speaker level control on steering wheel, no heated mirrors, no foot lights, no digital climate control option (like LS Legend), etc.). I bought the Vigor because I had wrecked my Legend and needed a car for some months to get around. It was less expensive and was a 5 speed (highly recommend a stick the auto's are not as fun to drive). The engine is mounted latitudely or like an in-line 5 engine. It has good HP numbers, but when me and Babyboy(legend sedan1993) off the forums went for a sprint the vigor fall behind. It is not as stable as a ride as the legend either, but quicker in acceleration. Maintance is about the same for both, but labor is a little more on my vigor. Also if you have to get the clucth done be prepared to spend some major dough on the Vigor.

Overall: Weigh the price of each and miles on each and just give both of them a test drive and go with your gut.
"If you buy the Vigor and want the Legend later do what I did sell it to your folks and drive it when you are in the mood to."

I do miss my Legend :( (couple more days...):D

My opinion after owning both, Legends are better then vigors for performance only because the G series engine that is in the vigor was not put in ANY other vehicle parts are EXTREAMLY hard to come by. Driving them is nice though its kinda like a luxury vehicle. They do have less power but they still feel like they have kick.. nothing like the legends though.Only thing good about vigors is their rare engine :) another good thing about them is that my vigor lasted to 600,000 + KM with good maint :)
