Light sensor - what gives?

I read in the helm manual that the light sensor (round bubble looking thing smack in the middle of my dash right up close to the windshield) is for canadian models which come standard with daylight lamps.

My question is I have the sensor - does everyone have the sensor, cause I never had daytime running lights?

What does light have to do with temp?

When the sun is shining on you, you feel warmer than the ambient temperature. The light sensor is supposed to tell the climate control to compensate for the sensation of increased warmth that you feel.
