The lower ball joints on my 88 Sedan has some "play"....so I ordered 2 lower ball joint replacements from Acura of Augusta ($40 ea)

My local Acura/Honda Mechanic wants $220 to replace them both. Dealer wants $150 per side.

Is $220 a good price (for both)?
Or should I try somewhere else?

Anyone done this before?
Heard its a common problem for high mileage G1s. I'm getting close to 180K

Thanks! :)

The steering knuckle needs to be removed anf then the ball joints pressed out and the new ones pressed in. I wouldn't hesitate to pay the $220.

I assume this doesn't include checking and adjusting the alignment?

I don't know about the "high mileage" problem. My ball joints are original and I have no funky tire wear. Hmm..I should check them next time I have the car in the air.

Thanks

Yeah, alignment is separate.
But i don't need to get it done since my tires are pretty evenly worn out and i don't experience any of the symptons of 'non-aligned' wheels.

Anyway, I'll go ahead and do it. Thanks Paulo

Lower ball joints are one of those things that can suddenly collapse on you, especially when you hit a big pot hole and the wheels will just bend inwards/outwards. So i've heard.

A&H also claim that they are one of the most commonly replaced parts on both the G1s and G2s.
