Coupe and Sedan, basically.

The Type II LS is a '93 - '95 LS Coupe. The GS is a '94 - '95 sedan with '94 - '95 LS coupe equipment.

Yes, the the L and LS come in both sedan and coupe form. However, other than the GS sedan, only the coupes were equipped with the Type II engine. L and LS sedans were always Type I.

is there a way to tell a 94/95 GS from a 94/95 L or LS Sedan by just looking at the VIN? If so, which letters or numbers denote the trim level. Here is an example of a 94 sedan VIN: JH4KA7689RC014372

Can someone please break it down ?

Here you go:

JH4: Honda Motor Co. Ltd. Acura Passenger Car

KA7: Legend 4-Door

6: 4-Door Sedan / 4 Speed Automatic

8: GS trim

9: "Check Digit" (Not sure what that means)

R: 1994 Model year

C: Factory Code (Saitama Factory in Japan - Sayama)

014374: Serial Number.

Everything you want to know about your car is right there in the VIN. :)

I got this from the service manual, but you can find a VIN cross-reference in the Technical Scrolls of the Legend Temple
