wowzah like whoa.

okay, first off, I will start with my problems. Since i've had the car, i have never been able to idle and just chill for more than 30 seconds without being worried about the car leaving a huge cloud of oil smoke and what smelled like antifreeze smoke behind me. i had Pennzoil 5W30 in there with a Fram filter first. and it never got any worse or better, i was certain my car wouldn't pass emissions because of this.

Fast forward:

A little more than a month and a half ago i changed my oil. i got it at Advanced Auto. The Oil i used was Mobil 1 Full Synthetic (Zero) 0W40 and Lucas "Full Synthetic" Oil Stabilizer. I also used a factory Honda oil filter.

after the oil had a chance to run through the car, the smoking began to dissipate. after about a week smoke was gone. once i sat for 20 minutes and drove off, there was smoke for quite a long ways down the road but after it cleared up it was fine again. and now i can sit for long periods of time and not see any smoke from behind the car.

Product review. Mobil 1:

Mobil 1 sythetic 0W 40 looks like water going it. i was really worried about bearing wear. that was until i remembered the Legend has tetramthyl lead bearing and that keeps oil and Lucas is supposed to help eliminate dry starts.

the Mobil 1 immediately give oilpressure and it gets warm quick and will get thick very soon which helps the engine run pretty smoothly and strongly.

Lucas Synthetic Oil Stabilizer...uhhhh wow! yea i have to admit, this stuff seemed really gimmick to me. i was sure it was just another magic miracle oil. I put this in and even though i didn't feel the "kick in the ass" people said they've felt, i could feel that my engine would run alot smother and was freer revving.

My recomendation:

I love the Honda Oilfilter just for the piece of mind, and i love the Lucas Ooil Stabilizer. however im not too sure if i would want 0W40 for anywhere that's warm. i put 0W40 in during the hot season...(smart right:)) but when it gets cold im sure im going to appreciate it.

Lucas...GET IT. great stuff, it works like a charm and reconditions your seals. High Mileage Oil has the additives that Lucas basically is. try it out.

I'm laughing because my older uncle always comes by and reminds me of how GODLY Lucas is, and I never pay attention to him cuz it sounds like some sort of cheap gimmicky product LOL

Well.....I actually use just the LOS w/any kinda oil and the smoking stops 99.999%!!! On badly worn engines (and my seals are WORN: 246K!!!) Lucas recommends 60% dilution (min. 2 bottles: $17)......I wanted to test it one day so i pulled up to a drive through at the bank and there were like 6 to 8 cars in front of me...by the time i was done with that teller and drove off
(about 25 min) minimal amount spewed but then after that it was fine like B&O said.....when ever i become a cheepo and don't wanna pay the 7.99 for the LOS, i get the crappy 1.99 smoke-b-gone craps & go around spewing smoke everywhere...about the mobil 1 FS, i used to use it but can't comment on its sealing effectiveness because i used it when the car was younger than 140k (age when G2s don't smoke)...i now use pennzoil (sp?) high milage variant...

miracle oil treatments

the Legend is great car to own and just look at, but when you have a system ported through the rear center arm rest, and all eyes on you cause of the bass. the worst thing you could do is pull off strong and smoke everybody, crushing the whole appeal of the LEGEND(BULL DOG). i found that if i wanted to stop the smoke i had to change the oil steady, and put the thickest oil that you can get. it worked for awhile, sometimes it took so long to smoke that you though that the clouds lifted, then about half an hour later it was back worst than before. Living in Brooklyn, and traveling up flatbush ave was like a strip, but dont idle too long, you might over stay your welcome. i though that was just the seal that caused the smoke, but a friend of mine had his 95 GS seals changed, just to find out later that it was actually the oil rings on the pistons that was letting the oil by. i gave up my 91 LS cause of this same problem this August. but this weekend i flew to Virginia to pick up a 94 L coupe. man this was a steal it had 73,xxx original miles on it, but i need to invest in the interior and the front bumper cover. i actually rescued this car, it had autolite plugs in the engine. NUFF said. the guage now has 76,xxx miles on it, it was a long drive back to cali but, for a legend I would do it again.

originally 5w30, then i switched to 10w40, then to high mileage ones...the only thing that worked for me is the LOS...this does not stop the smoking 100% but it is the next best thing to having the engine overhauled...trust me....w/ the number of mechanics i've painstakingly interrogated and honda specialists that's the best solution...don't go w/ more than 10w40 thickness because then i think lubrication might be no more!!! don't go w/those super-thick Isuzu dumptruck 20w50 or smthng. crazy like that because originally (smbd. correcty me if i'm wrong) G2s require 5w30

hey arnach to each its own. that how me and my boys do the it up in brooklyn. you do your way and well do ours. nuff respect. see it was kept clean. thats why i never post anything here people must have an opinion, which is everyone right. but your legend is yours and mine is maracuras. lets keep it cool. since when is having a system a crime, when i get older i'm sure i will see things your way. but for right now bass and good, and even better in a LEGEND. ONE.
