Last week I had my car in for a 30k service (now at 167000 miles). Platinum plugs, air filter, fuel filter, PS fluid, coolant, tranny fluid and throttle body cleaning. I was surprised at how much of a difference there was. Keep in mind that if you had asked me how my car as doing two weeks ago, I would have told you it was in perfect working order but: the very first thing I noticed is how much smoother the steering was and how it took less effort to turn the wheel. It took me some driving to put my finger on it, but the transmission definitely shifts a lot smoother too. I specifically (don't) notice the shifting between 2nd 3rd and 4th. I haven't gotten through a full tank of gas yet but I look forward to my fuel economy improving from 18-19.99 MPG.
A side note, as my car was made in March 1992, this marks the cars 16th birth-month. This service also puts general maintenance and repairs just over $20,000 for December's life time. That brings yearly maintenance and repair costs to about $1250 per year. I think thats good but maybe you guys can challenge me with your yearly maintenance average.
