hey someone just told me legends are high maintinence like bmw's, where it costs extra to get oil changes, and parts/labor in general are a lot more than say a regular honda. is this true?

well, it is true that most parts are more expensive than other honda's, but they also tend to last longer, and be more reliable. Rather than other cars (not hondas) with cheap but frequent repairs, the legends have several well-known maintenance items that are usually replaced only once with most owners, and can be forgotten for 10s of thousands of miles, such as timing belt, transmission and engine mounts, etc. Hope that helps

Not on regular maintainance stuff like oil change and stuff, but repaires are extremely costly, especially at the dealer. Labor rate could cost as much as $90/hr. It's $80 here in michigan. Labor rate would be half as much at a independent mechanic that specializes in Honda/Acura, but not every state or city is blessed with a independent Honda/Acura specialist.

Overall the Legend is not a high maintainance car like BMW and Benz. But it does cost more to maintain than your regular reliable car. At least it's cost me a lot more to maintain than my 90 Accord and 93 Maxima. But hey, it's a luxury car, and you have to pay a luxury price right

I can tell you that Acura dealerships are rape. I am constantly unglued at some of the price quotes they give me for some jobs. They also try and sell you extra stuff that you dont need. As far as parts go... there are some dealership only items... like what I am experiencing now with a transmission mount. No aftermarket tranny mounts. PArts are a bit pricey....but not completely unreasonable as they are good parts and not cheap domestic parts that only last 10k miles before they need replacing. the standard acura warranty is usually 20 000kms or 1 year, and the parts last way longer usually.

All in all I can say that it is a very advanced car (compared to a civic or integra) and it demands a litle bit more attention (labour and part wise). the parts on this car are high quality and they are expected to be replaced with good parts or performance and reliability fails. I think it would be way better than a BMW or BEnz though.

oil changes cost the same as any other car. Like I said before all the regular maintaince stuff, as long as you don't get the work done at Acura, should cost the same as most other cars out there.
