Okay, it was pretty weird, I was driving normally, going at about 40mph in D4. All of a sudden my Speedometer shoots down to ZERO, for about 5-6 seconds, then it shoots back up and works normally. First time I've seen this, and it hasn't occured again since this afternoon when it happend. Car didn't jerk or anything, no flashing lights (well haven't done the ECU check yet)

What do you guys think? What's usually associated with this sort of failure? Sensor? Cable? I'm guessing something *might* be getting ready to give out...

This is Cali dogg, and you might have been going through some magnetic field. (Or some UFO tractor beam you escaped :) )

LoL U.F.O tractor!

Yeah, my first thought was UFO.. err I mean Speed Sensor.. the cable also came to mind, is it mechanical?

What else would a failing speed sensor cause, anyone know the exact location? Is it a DIY?

Access the code to verify that it is the VSS (which it most probably is). Contact Acura of Augusta 1-800-736-6818 and order the VSS "gut". Contact www.helminc.com and order a Service Manual. Chilton's and Haynes manuals are only good for light reading while you are in the W.C.
