I was getting ready to take her for a walk and she jumped down the stairs in the front yard, and tumbled on top of herself :(

In addition to a fracture on her tibia, her ACL is torn too! I have taken her to 2 vets, who both referred me to a board certified specialist surgeon who can probably repair her leg. I'm taking her to his office tomorrow afternoon.

I've only had her 4 weeks, put I can't bring myself put her down. Surgery is gonna be expensive. Not sure how much yet, but a lot (1000+). Attached are her x-rays....

anyone ever had surgery on a puppy?

I've done surgery on puppies  I used to be a vet tech. There are care plans out there, where you get financing for your pets surgery. Or you can take out a credit card. or use your rebate check. And if you find a vet that cares about the animals more than the money, some will even let you make payments. I hope you can figure out a way to get it done, it's sad to see a puppy be put done over money :( But the good news is, because she is young, if you do have the surgery done she will probably bounce back just fine.

man she will make a great guard dog, even if she is a sweetie, labs in general are very territorial and will protect their owners from anything that comes on HER property... don't put her down, and she will be worth that in the long run with everything she will help with.

Dogs are irreplaceable friends. I know mine is always there when I get home waiting by the door and the last one to see me go to bed. I hope your dog has a successful surgery. She's a beautiful lab.

both my labs are always there for me and always happy when i get home from school even when i have had a sh!tty say, they are always there and happy ready to be pet or played with. and then i have a twin sized bed, lets just say, 180 6ft kid, two 90lb labs (not fat all muskle) makes for a very comfortable and safe sleep, they hear any kind of noise coming from downstairs, they are down there investigating and in some cases barking like a maddog

She is so cute! I'm glad that you were able to afford her surgery. What a lucky puppy to not have her dad give up on her! Her name should be Legend, because she's already starting out expensive :giggle:

I paid $1500 to fix my pitbulls knee the first time when she was a pup (about 5-6 yrs ago) and paid $3500 to fix her torn ACL 2 years ago....and I'd do it again in a heartbeat....

My dog is the daughter I haven't had yet....had her a month after birth and until now (8 years later)...she's irreplaceable...

Well I took her in this morning, and 2 hours later the surgeon called....

She made it through the surgery just fine, and I can pick her up tomorrow! I'm so glad it's done, now she can work on getting better. I'll get some pics of her & her cast/cone tomorow when I pick her up.

She's been the best friend in the world since I got her! Very easy to train, and a great playmate ;)
