MY RUN WITH ANOTHER MAXIMA!!!!!!

Last Saturday night around 11:30-12:00 I was driving to Northern Parkway where everyone meets on Saturday night. As I was driving up Northern Parkway I noticed that the police had a couple cars pulled over and that the pattywagon was also there. I drove up to the entrance only to find that another police officer had it blocked off so I made a U-turn and started making my way to 695 so that I could see if anyone was at route 70 ( the park and ride area ) where everyone goes when the police chase us out of the parkinglot on Northern Parkway. As I'm driving back down Northern Parkway making my way back to Liberty Road I notice a white Maxima. It has a set of 18 inch rims and tires on it and an exhaust and possibly an intake. I say to myself nice car. Now I'm driving up Liberty Road and I finally reach the on ramp leading to 695 as I come off the ramp in 2nd gear I floor it and the Maxima follows suit. He is behind me and seems to be gaining some ground so I shift into 3rd and my coupe starts pulling. As I start to shift into 4th he is nearing my driver side door but, he has to brake because a car pulls in front of him. I am now in 4th and my tach is heading for the red zone and my speedometer is still climbing. Now the Maxima is behind me and my coupe is doing 120-125. I'm about to shift up into 5th but, a car jumps in front of me and I have to hit the brakes. The Maxima pulls into the left lane and goes by me ( of course you guys know I am pissed of at this point ). After I get around the a-whole that just cut me off I fly pass the maxima and onto the ramp leading to route 70. I'm hitting gears and I don't let up on my speed for a second ( this car never seems to dissapoint me ). I'm hitting corners my tires never squeal as my speedo climbs towards 70 m.p.h. when we get to route 70 everyone starts to roll-out to another location and I say to myself its time for me to go home because, I'm not gonna spend all night moving from one location to the next whenever the police show up. As for my run with the maxima, I can't say I beat him since I had to brake for the a-whole that jumped in front of me but, before that the maxima was in my rear view mirror. Oh and one more thing in case you were not paying attention as read this I NEVER CAME OUT OF 4TH GEAR. Don't get me wrong I think the maxima is a very competent car but, If I told you guys once I've told you a thousand times. Never sleep on a Legend. Peace and Blessings. Bigs out.:D

Just FYI, a 95-99 Maxima 5 speed is usually faster than the pre '99 Mustang. With a decent driver they can run high 14's stock. Beating a Maxima is praise worthy in my book.

I've beaten older 5.0 Mustangs in my G1. Someone doesn't have to beat a Supra in order to post it on here. I'm not trying to start a flame war or anything, just give credit where it's due.
Well Ricdogg ran a mid 14 on his first run with the blue bottle of "Acura Primatine Mist" so either way the Maxima or Mustang wouldve been seeing his rear bumper

and for your info the Cobra R and 2003 Mustang Cobra arent a joke at all...but thats my opinion....not trying to start a fight here

where did i get thrown in all of this???
im only mid 14's (for now)
DV8's a better example use him. hes faster

Look at you being all modest hahaha

Its ok, we'll race on Saturday at the Legend meet when your bottle is refilled so you can show that Legends are capable of kinda keeping up with modded V8s :D

and I know that once the NOS is tuned Imma have to scramble and do something to keep you off my azz when we race....like add a lil pssst pssst to the maro ;)

I may be way off base here but has anyone ever thought bout actually carrying out putting some NSX heads on their gen 1???

Im sure you can solve the hood clearance issue with a lil fiberglass, and as for the VTEC wiring....if anyone is serious bout doing it and you live within driving distance to Sacramento I'd be willing to either hook it up or get my buddy to hook it up for you :D

You're talking NOS'ed though. Lots of things can run 14's w/ NOS. I'm talking stock. No intake, no exhaust and no NOS.

I hear you on the Mustang Cobra. Almost any Mustang Cobra is no joke.

NSX heads would probably fit a G1 with a little work, but with the few g's it would cost, you could have a turbo almost paid for.

HERE WE GO AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!

Let me start by saying this. A G1 Legend VS. a 95-00 Maxima is a darn good race especially when the maxima has more horsepower to start with. Also we all post on the forum we are not trying to out do one another ( at least I'm not ) we are simply trying to let each other and the world know that the legend ( even the G1s ) is still a force to be reconed with. As for racing Mustangs and Camaros thats not my cup tea ( at least not in a 1/4 mile ) the only thing I like about 1/4 mile races is watching. I don't know how many times I have to tell you guys that Legends were not meant to be quarter mile cars. My journey to where ever my destination is DOES NOT END IN A 1/4 MILE THATS WHY I DO NOT CARE TO DO A 1/4 MILE RUN ( although I have done one against another G1 coupe and I won ). I like to run my car flat out against the red-line. If any of you guys have ever seen the movie Cannon Ball Run or Gumball Ralley ( Gumball Ralley is better ) thats what I like. I remember reading in Road and Track a few years back. They did a 140 m.p.h. shoot-out. To my surprise the MUSTANG was one of the cars THAT COULD NOT REACH A 140 M.P.H. in order to do so they had to DUCT TAPE THE ENTIRE FRONT END except for the from air dam ( I wish I still had a copy of the article ). First you say not to post about racing Maximas then you say and I quote only post about cars that are worth racin like mustangs the new 3.5 Altima and Maximas. Correct me if I'm wrong but, DIDN'T I POST ABOUT A MAXIMA I RACED. I mean come on guys instead of beating up on one another for no reason at all. Lets embrace the victories that we as Legend owners can proudly bring to the forum. This is not a whose better than who forum. Its a forum for sharing information and helping each other out. Most importantly we are here TO DO WHAT IT TAKES TO KEEP THE LEGEND ALIVE. Peace and Blessings. Bigs out.:(

HEY RICCDOG!!!!!!!!!

No all races in Baltimore are not like Days of Thunder. Don't forget one thing though. A TRUE RACER USES EVERYTHING IN HIS OR HER ARSENAL TO WIN and if their is something you may know that the other driver doesn't than you have just gained the upper hand ( remember that it, may serve you well young Jedi ). Using everything in your arsenal DOES NOT MEAN HURTING SOMEONE. It means take the skillz you have honed along the way and use them to your advantage. Peace and Blessings. Bigs out.

We just live by a different creedo.
mine is; if you're not ahead at the end of the 1/4, you're never going to catch up. But i dont race top end either.
I have no desire to be one of the famous legends on COPS

Again, not trying to start a fight or be a hater against Acuras, cuz I do still like them and might be picking up a G2 perty quick but......if you're all about top speed and not 1/4 I'd be willing to bet you pink slips that your Legend wont take my stock Z28 on top end.....so far I've had it to 150mph and I still had another 2000rpms to go and the car wasnt showing any signs of instability....top speed doesnt take too much skill in my eyes....anyone can go over 100mph....the criteria is that you dont have a governer limiting your speed, have enough HP to keep you accelerating, have good aerodynamics, and most importantly have the gearing to do it....thats about it.....for the 1/4 mile its a lil more tricky...you need to know how and when to launch to get a good reaction, you need to know how to shift so you're not losing time/speed between shifts, and you need to be able to calculate if youre gonna break out or not so you can be accurate on your times (this is all for bracket racing though)

but to each his own.....and dont get me wrong....maybe a was being a little hard on you Mr. Bigs, yes the Maximas do have more HP and are lighter but for me theres not much difference, the Maxima I was talking about that you should race is the new 255hp Maxima...that would be a nice story to tell if you beat him....but nywayz...its all gravy

"NSX heads would probably fit a G1 with a little work, but with the few g's it would cost, you could have a turbo almost paid for."

I dont think so, for a good turbo its gonna cost you about a G, and another G just for the intercooler, then youre talking custom piping, bigger injectors, a FMU, (good idea to get a boost guage), boost controller, wastegate.....etc

NSX heads wont be that expensive and you can put them on yourself, from what I understand the blocks for the g1 and the older NSX are the same so it should be a straight swap besides the bigger timing belt, and you can chip a g1 ECU to work for the NSX heads (much like they do with the Civic SOHC ECUs when you chip them for the DOHC VTEC motors)

then for wiring, like I said, I'd be willing to hook it up just to see someone do it

#44 ·
If that's the case, how much can you get a used NSX motor for? I haven't gotten any pricing on them but I'm thinking around $1500 for the motor used and the another thousand on parts you would need to swap, ecu, etc. Like I said, I haven't looked into this at all so I don't know what would all need to be changed.
1989~TLC got his turbo for around 4k for the whole setup. Without an intercooler or anything, I think he has around 70 hp more to the wheels. Even if the NSX heads were cheaper, they wouldn't produce that kind of horsepower increase. It would be interesting to see what they would do though.

MY CUP OF TEA!!!!!!!!!

As fas as racing goes. I like road races. You know indy cart, formula 1 etc. I also like to run my G1 down back roads that have alot of twist and turns, up and down hills. To me that is the best way to test every aspect of my cars braking, cornering, accelleration, deceleration, and shifting abilities. To me thats a blast and I also get to learn my cars characteristics more every time I add a new modification to it. Riccdog. I never have to worry about being on COPS. Nine times out of ten, when I'm on the road I'm just chillin, going from one place to the next. As far as running with a Z28 in my G1. I would do it if I were a fool. A Z28 with well over 250 horses VS. my G1 coupe with 160+ horses. Only a fool would take that race and a fool I am most certainly NOT. Peace and Blessings. Bigs out.:)

I think you could see those HP increases, for one you are about right on the motor parts.....gonna be bout $1500....then all you need for the install are new head bolts, some minor head work to weld the VTEC supply shut...and resurface the head, then a stock C27a head gasket.....all this can be done for around $600-$700, then as far as the ECU goes...you'd use your stock ECU...just have it reprogrammed (the NSX ECU is a different plug in if Im not mistaken) that'll prolly be about $300, and finally....you add 3 wires (oil pressure, VTEC activation, and cant remember the other one but my buddy knows all the stuff on it...he used to own a shop)....so total it'd be around $2500.....and then add bout $750 for miscellaneous costs that might come up..they always do....so a grand total of $3250......wow, that leaves you enough to buy a $600 basic NOS setup.....and will still be $150 less than the turbo setup and it has more uniqueness to it

You might wanna double check with Ricdogg and DV8 on my calculations since Ive never done a Legend before but I do know about VTEC conversions from going through the steps on a LS-VTEC and watching a H23-H22 project

a NSX hybrid Legend would be one bad azz car :D

Im just messing with ya....its all good.....Ricdogg looked up the skidpad ratings of a G1 and my Z28 a while ago.....just outta curiosity cuz we always mash together and surprisingly even with the solid rear axle on the camaro it was actually rated about the same as the G1....that blew me away cuz Ricdogg can always bust corners faster than my Camaro.....course I dont really push it cuz we all know what happens to RWD cars when you get to cocky on corners, but Im pondering trying it when I get some better tires on it

Sadly the Camaro has to be sold (anyone interested let me know...$12,500...96 6-speed, T-tops...has BBK headers, Hooker Supercomp exhuast, K&N intake and a LT4 knock module as of now) but I have a kid on the way so Im going to have to move from V8 to a 4 door V6 (but at least it'll be a Legend and not a Camry or Accord or sumthin ;) )

wonder if they'll trade the other way... I might start having kids (scary thought):D ....

just kidding, and Congrats on the new one...

Why is it that you feel the need to write a half page post bout a race against a freakin Nissan Maxima Mr. Biggs? Theyre not that fast for one and two I sure as hell wouldnt be braggin bout it
If you want to share useless info its up to you but I for one would save my time and only post about cars that are worth the time to race, like Mustangs and the new 3.5 Altima or Maximas....not a lil azz 95-00 Maxima
If you wanna hear a good story ask Ricdogg bout the 5.0 Mustang we smoked the other week in his 4 door 1st gen, or bout DV8 running a 13.6 in his automatic 2nd gen 4 door...now thats a story, if you want to impress us go race a V8 and try to win.
Speeking of Mustangs I was racing one of the new ones that looks like it comes w/ a body kit and I don't know if he was shook up or just didn't know how to drive but I tore that @ss out the frame. ( he must have messed up while shifting ) Dam rookies:D and give my boy Mr. Biggs a break. I mean if you and a 95-00 max was at a red light and he had that race look on his face tring to race would you not gladly pop his cherry :) I do it all the time:cool:
