To do this mod, I removed the tails from the car. I Bought some chrome wheel well trim from an auto parts store ("Canadian Tire", but those in the US could try Pepboys or Autozone, etc) for $15, which has 3m double sided tape applied:

I bought some extra 3m tape to help this go more smoothly and cut the trim to fit.

Voila!

i like it...kinda looks like those SC tails with the chrome trim...
Sup Octane...off topic, but i was wondering what kind of muffler do you have on there ? thx.
looks good, except i cant decide whether or not i like it...i keep looking at it and im half and half on it. looks good either way or doesnt it? i dunno, decisions decisons
nice :2cool:
In person, the contrast between the black, red and chrome is more complementary to this mod. In the pics, the flash hitting the reflectors in either tail creates a bright amber that sorta ruins the effect.

In person it looks better. I also think it would show up nicer in a pic where its sunny out and the car is clean.

I think its the new ES330s that gave me the idea to try this. Its just an experiment - $20 in materials and 3hours of my time. It was just something fun to do on my day off (since it was relatively warm out). Overall, I'm pretty happy with the results.

Stromung catback exhuast (as listed in my sig info).
looks really nice. i know it'd look nice if it was on a pearl white, or lighter color legend for sure.
k i made up my mind, i like it, i think you're right, what threw me off was the reflection of the diffuser. good job, looks great! i did some chrome work this past month, i actually got chrome vinyl and covered the door sill on the coupe. ill take pics sometime

*co-sign*

Doesn't look bad, but doesn't look great. Somewhat indifferent I guess....
Nice work being different. Just not my style. But props to you for doing it and being different. God knows our tails need some modification.

Lookgs good yet i donno if ill do it
I don't like it. Car dosen't need any more chrome.
The photos really don't do it justice. I've driven it around today and polled several people. So far all comments have been positive. It's subtle, but classy (which may not really come through in the pix).

If you look at the top two photos I posted ("Before" and "After"), that really gives the best impression of what it looks like. I'll have to show it to some local a-l.com members who can post up their opinions... theGodfather and possibly Sage69.
i think it looks pretty classy....how did you red out your tails? mask the reverse and spray? if so, what color red did you use?

goto walmart or something and buy red transparent paint in the hobby model car or plane section

No no! I did that on my 91 sedan. For the coupe I used transparent red tint film that I got from Legendary93. It looks much better than the spray method. do a search for "red tint film".
