it depends upon your mileage but usually when it says that on your dash reminder it means an oil change and remember to reset the reminder after the oil change.

oil change is different, cause my car is saying 450 miles til' "next service due", and about 1000 til' the next oil change is due.

Yep! There is an oil change reminder and a regular maintance reminder. Both are reset the same way. You can even adjust the mileage. It considers times for such actions based on the preset mileage.
