Rather than drving yourself crazy trying to find and OEM muffler that outflows the Legend's, why don't you just purchase one of the aftermarket units you listed, and get a resonator installed with it. It'll look much better and outflow any oem muffler, plus give a sporty tone without being overbearingly loud. Just my $.02.

$$$

^ that's why

oem muffler from another car = <$100
installation/new mandrel bent piping = $80
Did you get an actual quote on that price? If you can get new mandrel bent piping and installation for $80, that's incredible. I don't think there's a shop near me that would do it for under $200-$250. BTW, I got my magnaflow online, shipped for $135.

What model Magnaflow do you have? How is the sound? And, where did you get it? Thanks.

SB
I have an SS series #14815 muffler. The sound is very smooth and deep at lower RPM's, and breaks apart sounds very mean from about 3500 til redline. I've gotten many compliments on the sound, especially at WOT or higher RPM's. I don't remmebr the exact site I bought it from. I basically just did a search online and shopped a few places until I found the best price. It's much cheaper online than through a retail store. I ordered a magnaflow muffler from a local auto parts store, and ended up not buying it when i found out it was $220. I just did a quick search, and this website seemed to have some pretty cheap prices. just click on the model # for a pic of the tips. http://www.justmagnaflow.com/SSMufflers/5x8Street.htm

It is a V6, so it doesn't sound like a rice rocket at all. It's a deep tone, but not too overbearing. It's not very loud while cruising on the highway, unless you get on it. I personally like the sound of it on the highway. If you get one installed, and do feel it's too loud, you can always get a resonator installed to quiet it down.

If you want to hear what it sounds like, the sound file for the Chrysler 300 3.5 V6 at Magnaflow.com sounds pretty similar to what my Legend sounds like. It's not exact, but it'll give you a good idea of what to expect. Also, at higher RPMs, the VW R32 sounds pretty close to the Legend as well.

I would buy the remus but I think they run about $600.. Get 2.75" piping for your exhaust, split it into two ports and put dual magnaflow mufflers on each side, make sure the inlet is the same as the exhaust for optimal perfomance and sound... Not bad?
IMO, 2.75" is way too big for our cars...it'll really kill low end torque. If you upgrade the pipe, don't go larger than 2.5". Also, there's no point to putting dual mufflers on our cars because it has absolutely no effect on performance. since our cars don't run a true dual exhaust set-up, splitting a pipe and running dual mufflers will offer no performance gain, and IMO, just be a waste of $$ and weight. BTW, magnaflow SS mufflers only come in 2.25" inlet.

I'm curious to see how this works out...it's definetly an original idea. Keep us posted, and be sure to put up pics and sound files if it happens.
