I am reading up on some oil-bypass filters, one particularily from Amsoil. They claim to "Plolong the life of your engine by filtering out abrasive particles from one micron and greater in size (common full-flow filters are effective down to about 20 microns; 60% of engine wear is comes from 1-20 micron size particulate). Connect in tandem with your existing full-flow filter; Use a T-fitting on the in and out line from your engine to connect this bypass adapter."

Does anyone have any experience with these? If so do you notice any improvements? has it saved you money on oil changes, or engine wear. I would be interested to hear, thanks

Waste of time, your headgasket will blow before metal particles in your oil actually damage anything in your crankcase.

Just use good oil (Mobile 1) and a good oil filter (K&N), and change it every 4000 miles.

IF the filter allowed you to use a little more oil, maybe there is some merit. More oil=more protection, to a point, as there would be more lubricant and that means breakdown of oil would take longer, etc. But if it does not allow you to safely use more oil, then there is no advantage.

Would this be similar to an oil cooler? I used to have a B&M oil cooler on my b18c1 and it allowed me to relocate the oil filter and use an extra quart or so of oil.
