Sorry about posting this about a week ago, but I just need to get my thoughts organized here.

I have that valve tap on cold starts that other people here have also.

My car has 146k miles on it and I want to run through an engine cleanser to clean it out and also b/c I used synthetic a while back and didn't know about the crud factor.

So if a plan on doing the cleanser, ATF (for valve noise), and engine restore; what should be the schedule here?

Do I put the cleanser in at the same time as the ATF and run it through to cleanse it and clear up the valve noise; and then drain it and fill it with new oil/filter and engine restore?

Or should I do the ATF, then put in new oil/filter, cleanser, and restore?

It would make more sense to me to do the cleanser and ATF first, then put fresh oil and engine restore in it.

Also, would you guys recommend the cleanser? I heard its good for older engines with sludge build up and such, as it will clear that mess up. What has been your experience with this type of product?

Also, is the so called "engine restore" the actual brand name? Or should I be looking for a particular name?

Additionally, what type of oil do you all recommend? I am staying away from synthetic, since last time I ran synthetic, the oil light came on about 3 weeks after I did the change and I was lucky I didn't seize the engine. Since then, I have used Castrol 5w-30. Is castrol a good oil??

Thanks

If you use ATF (ford type F) you wont need an engine cleaner or flush, that's what the ATF is for.

I just got done w/ the oil/filter change.

I put in the ATF for 15 min, changed the oil, put in new Castrol 5w-30 syntec and new honda filter, and a can of engine restore.

She hasn't ran this quite in months :D
