Anyone ever opened up a one piece headlight? I found one that has alot of dirt inside it. It looks really dark inside. If anyone knows how to open it please let me know. I know you can open the tails, but i wasn't sure if the same process could be done. I know if you use a hot gun you may melt/burn some of the lense.

Thanks

Yes ma'am I opened mine up to remove the corner blurry piece out. I also cleaned it from the inside :D Just this weekend I cleared out my girl's honda accord headlights. You can use a heatgun if you like, but I prefer using the oven because it's easier. It's much better to have another person helping you do this. The heat gun will not burn the lense, but you can damage the plastic backing of the headlight housing if you bend it too much. set the oven at 200° and place each headlight in for 10-12 mins. Might seem crazy, but that's what I did to many headlights (Civic, legend, legend jdm, accord, etc) when clearing/blacking them out. Pry it open while the silicon is hot. Becareful and have fun. :)

I opened my JDM 1 piece lights using a hairdryer and two large screwdrivers. Its basically the same thing as the heatgun, only it doesn't get as hot so you don't melt the plastic. It's still hot enough to soften the adheasive that holds the lens inplace though.

Used the oven method.

The oven approach is very easy. While I haven't opened up the lenses on a Legend yet, I've gone this route to clear out the headlights on a 00 Accord. If I remember right, it was ~250 degrees for 3-4 minutes. But don't put the lens housing directly on the oven grill because you may melt the plastic. I rested mine on top of a ceramic bowl.

I did mine this way:

Instructions are not mine, but from a guy from the Philips Lighting Forum.

Turn oven to 400
Now, count 10 minutes if you have a junky oven, and maybe 6-7 minutes if you have a newer, state-of-the-art oven.
After counting ten minutes(or 6-7 minutes) from the time you turned that dial to 400, turn off the oven right away
DO NOT FORGET TO TURN OFF THE OVEN
ONE MORE REMINDER TO TURN OFF THE OVEN – you will not like a melted headlight
After turning it off, place the headlight in for another 10 minutes. The oven should be cooling down during this ten minutes. You can check after five minutes and make sure everything is all right. But when it gets hot enough, you can use an oven mitt and take out the headlight, and you use a screwdriver and the headlight will pry apart with ease. Make sure to release the tabs.
Do not place the headlight close to the bottom oven coils, place it away from the coils but don’t let it scrape the top coil.
