if u paint them hyperblack, the wheels would get lost at a glance, meaning it would blend with the tires...and would look like black steel spare wheels, especially with no polished lip. My Ac tech had dark wheels on his NSX, he totally regretted it, swapped non black rims and was happy.
just my opinion(as per thread title). Since u'r not liking "bright", I'd suggest bronze or gunmetal.
