BTW: My car is at the installer as I'm typing so a reply would really help out.

I have the LS/GS factory system. Used to make a very loud pop every few seconds when the car was parked in the sun and got warm. Would stop when things cooled off. Finally did this all the time.

Replaced the factory amp with a new Pioneer and still have this same sound coming from the head unit. Is there a known grounding problem or other intermittent with these units? Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Thanks for the link. I'm on my way to pick the car up now.

My installer found the problem--the speaker voice coil was shorting out against the basket, causing both amps to pop, make noise, and eventually shut down.

He replaced the defective Planet Audio speaker under warranty--what an honest person!
