i'd like to know what's the real difference in these projectors?

besides maybe the size of the projector...because arean't they all the same if you use the same bulb?

so would i just able to buy some projectors from some cheaper car? instead of buying them from a A4 or A6

Projectors are a pretty basic install, in terms of what acutally needs to be done. Just takes a while. Here are some tips I can offer for doin the mod:

1. Get quality projectors and bulbs. Not all projectors are made equal. BMW and Audi make the best ones. They have the best beam cut-off pattern, and widest light coverage. You can use other lesser expensive projectors, but a t the cost of light output. Also make sure the bulbs and ballasts are quality, because it can be a ***** to remove burned out bulbs.

2. Do it right the first time. Don't cut corners, it will cost you in the end.

3. When removing the plastic lens cover, heat oven to no more than 275. You will toast your whole light, TRUST ME!

4. Mounting the projector is simple, but you will ned to get creative on how to securley hold it in place.

5. Try to seal it as best as you can. Try to make it waterproof. HID's don't react well to moisture.

6. Plan on taking at least one whole day. (i.e. 24 hrs.)

Hope this helps.

Peace

Nice Coupe!

Archistrong,

That is one clean coupe you got there! I like the kit, what kind is it?? VERY CLEAN.. Reminds me of a skylines bodylines.

I think that is the most attractive part of a legend. Clean, flowing bodylines.

Anyhow, let me know what kind of body kit that is.

Don't you guys think the Legend resembles the Skyline in a weird way?

I have a regular generic HID kit and I think it's great. Much better light pattern and overall visibility.

Less than $300 on ebay.

IMO unless you're going to slap the whole housing and projector into your car, you're better off with a regular plag and play kit.

You will not get good optics by just slapping in the projectors. I've seen a few conversions. They look good if you're oncoming traffic, but they don't put out much light. (the ones I've seen anyhow)

Just my 2 cents.

It is worth the money if you really want true OEM HID projector beam patterns like the BMW/Audi. However, I think the S2000 projectors are worth it if you can find them. Throught many sites independent testing (No offical testing just people doing tests) the S2000 has proven to have the most light output of any thus far. BMW/Audi projectors are also very good and widely available since there are so many of them around. You can't go wrong with any OEM D2S projector. Don't bother getting the aftermarket ones though.

As to the beam pattern, in the headlights like the Legend with the clear plastic cover, the beam pattern and light output will be the same as if it were on the real OEM car it came from. The reason why an HID conversion in the Legends 9006 optics can look brigher is because it has much more hotspots and throw more light around uncontrolled. Real OEM HIDs have a very tight controlled and wide pattern that 9006 HID conversions can't match. Even the 9006 projectors are a better choice and more controlled than the Legend optics. It is worth the trouble if you have the time to do it.

Yeah you will need bulbs, ignitors, and ballasts to go along with your projectors. I have 2002 BMW M3 projectors, and got all of the above for under $400 on ebay. The nice thing about BMW HIDs is that the wiring harness from our low beams plug right into the ballast. I am not kidding when I say it is plug and play. Hardest part is just getting the projector mounted. The rest is cake!

archistrong would u have any guild line for how to get the m3 projector into legend casing?

I was kinda interest in the audi project since it seem to be a lot bright than bmw, but then I'll probably be harras by cops here.

Audi A6 projectors give off more light than the A4, hence the bigger size.
You really can't go wrong with either projector, I went with the A6, it fills the housing up better, less neagtive space.

One of my main suggestions for mounting any kind of projector is to create a way of aiming it separately from the rest of the casing (ie. high beam). There are a couple different ways of doing it but I choose to make my own adjustors. Obviously you need to dremel out the back of the reflective housing. My M3 projectors are prtty good sized, and required a lot of cutting and sanding to make them fit inside. To mount them, I used the four stock mounting holes on the projector assembly. I just let it rest close to centered on the housing and then drilled holes through the reflector. Then in order make the system aimable, I used a series of springs washers and nuts. This is where you need to get creative, but the basic idea is here. By using heavy duty springs, you can screw in or out each corner of the projector, thus letting you aim the system before you reseal the headlight assembly. Hope this helps.

Thanx. Those are RH C2 17" wheels. I had them on my car for about a month. I took em off because i thought they "stuck out" way too much. Wrong offset.

If you think those look good, take a look at the RH C2 3-piece wheels. They are much nicer in my opinion.

Anyhow, i think I'll just stick with my stock GS Chromes. I really like em.

Supplant, I like GS wheels too ! They look great !

I can't find any GS wheels to buy here in Canada, which is too bad. I just dont want/need 17s

Did the ride get rougher with the 17s compared to your 16 GS wheels ?
