Hey yesterday morning I filled my tank before work, got off work and went home, went to the store later that night, I was at a stop light and all of a sudden my car began to putter or miss so I step on the gas a it cleared up, but at the next light it did it again and while my wife ran in the store it did it as long as was in drive and not park it did it, so when I got home I checked under the hood and didnt see anything obvious but I smelt a funny smell I dont know where it was coming from, and when I step on the gas I heard putting. When I woke up today I started it up it ran fine no problem puttering etc, but I didnt want to chance driving it before I checked it out thought so it at home any ideas on what the problem may be? maybe bad gas but why the smell, or I resently had spark plugs changed my be bad plug or coil wire I dont know but I guess I wil try to check those first.

You should always post mileage and what (if any) recent repairs/service was performed (which you did). If the "smell" was not fuel, could it be coolant? The Legend has a tendency of developing hairline cracks in the top tank. Do you have an engine oil leak somewhere? Problem could be that a coil pack is not fully seated or a plug not installed to torque spec. Problem could also be a fuel obstruction (filter, failing pressure regulator/pump) or as you mentioned "bad" gas. It could also be that your symptom and the smell are not directly related.
Pour a couple of cans of dry gas into the tank. Could also be a failing main relay. There is no Check Engine lamp activated?

my car is doing the same thing only it only does it under load. At first I thought the was a short in one of the chanels of my MSD so I diconected it and it didn't do it for a while then yesterday it started doing it realy bad as I went to work. I haven't pinpointed it yet but because I haven't gotten in there yet but I think it is my injector, it's cloged or bad. Check your spark plugs, if one is melted this is probably your problem because you are getting spark and air but not enough fuel and you are getting detonation, at least that is what seems to be my problem, I've got 83K om mine. I hope this helps.
