hey whats up all? for those of you with either 5 or 6 speed transmissions, when you redline the RPMs how many MPH are you going?( say you redline it out of first gear what speed would you be at) also when starting out about to race how much should you be revving the engine up, like whats the best point to get a good jump off the line??

one last thing..for normal everyday driving when do most of you change gears?? Thanks.

Hey man, whassup. I have a 5-speed 1991 Legend. Here is what I can think of right off the top of my head:

1st: 30-33mph
2nd: 58-60mph
3rd: ~95mph
4th: ~120mph
5th: 140+mph

These are proven speeds which I have done. For a good launch, I drop the clutch anywhere around 2800-3000rpm's depending on the conditions. For normal driving, well, lol...I drive my car pretty hard but if it's just a normal day, I shift around 3-4k. Hope this helps.

sounds exactly like what I was going to say. I want to hear what numbers six speed guys get though.

I have a GS 6 spd. and I would say that for normal driving the 6 spd. is like the first 5 gears of the 5 spd. + a high overdrive. The Type 2 engine has a higher redline and this accounts for the speed difference listed in the owners manual on the maximum shift point speed for the 5 spd. and 6 spd. (p. 123 & 124)

5 spd.

1st - 33 MPH
2nd - 56
3rd - 89
4th - 123
5th - top speed

6 spd.

1st - 37 MPH
2nd - 64
3rd - 94
4th - 125
5th - top speed
6th - top speed
