Currently I have the 16" "GS" style rims, but someday plan an upgrade. It is my opinion that the 215/55 tires with these rims are a nice fit for the front wheel wells, but look a bit tiny in the rear (I'm psycho to notice this, I know).

I know one of the cardinal rules for uprading rims is to adjust the wheel to tire ratio to keep that combo the same size as the outgoing. This would mean that the fronts would look right and the rears would continue to look tiny, in my case.

So my question is this, what would be the problem with replacing the rear rims with 215/45 18's instead of what would be the "correct" 215/45 17's (or for that matter 215/35 18's). Maybe this is no big deal but I really don't want to mess up my handling.

Any comments from someone who is more knowlegable than I am would be much appriciated.

Oh and here is a pic to show you what I mean.
