the stock setup has most of the hoses/wires stuck together with a metal clamp of some sort (it seems to be soldered to the hoses and then soldering them together). how do you break these apart so that you can put in new hoses to connect to the after-market intake? thanks

Yeah, the clips should come off. Just clamp the ends of the clips together, and it should expand enough to slide away. If it's stuck, it's probably held by dirt and grease. If that's the case, just move it around a bit to free it up.

What I did was I just took out the entire metal piece. You connect the hose coming out of the valve cover to the middle opening on the intake. Then you have to connect one end of the coolant hose to where it ends up under the TB. I think that's everything.
