posted earlier today about smelling coolant, and noticing steam from area under Fast Idle Valve.

Well, my temp shot up tonight upon parking the car after driving, and lots of steam smell.

Checked and the top of hose indicated in yellow has a nice crack in it RIGHT under the clamp...

Is it a reasonable fix to unclamp the hose, cut it below the crack and clamp it back on? Or should I go out and buy another hose...

I will buy another, but I need a quick solution for tomorrow morning... my other legend has a steel belt showing on a tire so I don't feel safe driving it...

THANKS!

thanks reboticon...

i was defeated for tonight by some f'ed up clamp... lol Well, i guess it did it's job since it doesn't want to come off easy..

its not the normal kind of clamp, where you grab it with your pliers loosen it and slide it up the hose... It looks like it was a longer clamp that got put around twice, and with the lack of room back there I couldn't maneuver my tools enough to loosen it... I did take the strut tower brace off, but still didn't have the room...

I think I'll need to cut the clamp completely off.... so not gonna so do that tonight... need another clamp to replace it with...

Update.

Got some new clamps today, cut the hose and reclamped. I ended up busting knuckles, lol, but it turns out there were two clamps on there, not just one, both right on top of each other.

so, tore them both apart to get the end of the hose off, clipped it, clamped it and then bled the system and everything seems A ok now!

my local Acura dealer charged me $18.58 including tax for a bottle a type II coolant. I asked about the increase, and they said they raised all their prices in January....:wtf:
