I have a new sony head unit. Do I hook up the [remote on] wire for the amp to the wiring harness? Is the [remote on] wire necessary for the system to work(what does it do)? Do I need to connect my subwoofer system to the rear boss speakers for it to work or can I run my boss system (connect by the harness) and at the same time run my subwoofers (connected by rca wires).

I looked at so much stuff on the forums I got a bit confused help me out.

You need to run a remote wire or else your amp will not turn on. It is usually a blue wire out of the back of your head unit. It should be marked remote, it there is not use the power antanna wire. Then you need to run your RCA,s from your deck, and power wire from the batt. If you have any other q's ask me peace

seein as the equipment wont work when the remote power isn't on it you need to wire it up to something that only runs when u have the car on, or even better, only when the radio is on. that way the amp (or eq or whatever) is only on when the radio is bumpin and it turns off when it is off. on the other hand u can run 12v power from the battery into the remote and to the positive and the amp will be on 24x7 but of course that drains ur battery.

hope that helps a bit

I offical just fried my heazd unit. Crap apples

check the fuse in the back of the head unit and also check the "raido" fuse in the in car pannel

It's simple :

Run a wire from your Headunit's BLUE WIRE (REMOTE OR POWER ANTENNA ACTIVATOR) all the way to your trunk into your AMP Remote Terminal.

Then Run a Main Power Wire (follow Amplifier manufactor gadge specifications) from the Battery positive Terminal all the way back to your AMP's Power + Terminal, also make sure to use a IN-LINE FUSE of Proper Rating no more than 12inches away from the battery. Check your AMP Manufactor for Fuse Ratings.

Next pull back your Trunk Lining on the sides of the trunk and fine a suitable hole in the metal for your Ground Wire for the AMP. Use some sandpaper and sand the paint off the surface to bare metal. Attach your Ground Wire firmly to this point using a Bolt/Nut Combo, Then attach the other end to your AMP's Ground Terminal.

Then Run your RCA Cables from the Headunits SUB Pre-Out on the back of the headunit -or- REAR Out depending on the headunit all the way back to the AMP.

Also make sure to run your RCA's down the Right side of the car and the Power and Remote Lines down the Left side of the car.

Doing this helps ellimate Noise and interfearance.

If you have anymore questions let me know.

If your headunit isnt working because you shorted somthing its prolly fine, check the FUSE on the back of the headunit where the wire harness plugs in, If its good then check the Radio fuse in the Fuse box at the Driver Kick Panel.

Good luck and Happy Bumping!
