1695 Views 14 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  legend4life
I would really like a remote start for my car. I know that it can be done on a manual, but I hve never seen it on a Legend. I want to use Clifford. I would also like window up/down, door look/unlook, sunroof open/close, and trunk release. If anyone has any ideas of knows of anything let me know! Thanks!

Lee,
I bought my six speed with a compustar remote start/alarm/security system combo. It works great and it pages you if someone is breaking into your ride. I think it retails for around $500 CDN plus the install. Also, with any sort of aftermarket system on the legend, you will have to pay extra to bypass the factory security system, unless you do it yourself.

:)
thanks man, I will check that out.

You know, a real pro can make the alarm work WITH your factory alarm = double protection! That is how mine is :)

If one *don't* get you the other one will (i.e hit lock button and forget to use remote)...first one then the other..BAM!!

Not a pretty sight......
Most of the aftermarket remote starters should have a Factory Alarm Shut Down (F.A.S.D.) wire. This one wire attaches to the factory alarm disable (-). This allows the factory alarm to stay in place working, but disables it when you unlock you vehicle with the remote starter.
The clifford you want is the Concept 600.
Its 600 dollars but it does everything you want and it will work with your existing system and remote start on a manual. If you want more info let me know.

You are right Leon.....I forgot to mention that. My sedan has the double alarm deal and so does my coupe. If you lock the doors from the inside, without the arm/disarm thingy, you will get the factory alarm first, and you can open the door with the key.

The manual is a bit differnt though. To arm my coupe you have to stop, put the ebrake on, turn the key off (car is still running), get out of the car, and close the door within a certain amount of time, and the second you close the door, the car shuts off and arms automatically. Its neat, but a nusance if you have to get something out of your trunk, and you have already shut your door. The second you close the trunk, your alarm will go off.

Also, if you have to go back to your car to get something after you have armed it, you cannopt remote start it..... it just they way it was designed.

Overall though, a sweet touch for the legend and a USEFULL accesory to your car.:)
PLEASE HELP ASAP!

hey guys i just got my remote start installed today on my 94 sedan and it works fine, except for a few things :

1. Trunk release - going back tommorrow to get that done
2. Doors will not unlock from remote after a remote start (?!!)
3. Factory alarm is not interfaced with new alarm system
(if i press lock using the powerdoor lock button from inside the car, when i unlock it with my remote the factory system goes off)
(also when i press lock using only the remote, the factory system does not activate)

im going back tommorrow to get it finished up and i already paid for it, it was $70, but i want the factory alarm to work with my new one also................so my remote activates it and de-activates it.................and they both work together.
And i also want to be able to unlock my car using the remote after doing a remote start........................when i do it now with the remote, after a remote start, the doors will not unlock, i have to use the key.........which sucks.

PLEASE HELP ME AND TELL ME HOW TO DO THESE TWO THINGS:
interface factory alarm with new one
unlock doors with remote after remote start

i need to know by tonite because i am going tommorrow right after school.

please help ASAP

btw sorry, this should not be in this thread, ill put it in another thread also, i have an auto
There is 1 reason why I choose not to interface my aftermarket alarm with my OEM one. What are you guys goint to do when your door lock actuactors start acting up and potentially causing the alarm to go off by itself like many others have had happen? Because my door lock actuator was starting to act up, I choose to diable the OEM alarm. Now, I never have to worry about the OEM alarm going off later down the road when the door lock actuator problem gets worse :)
once again this forum rocks! I love all the feed back. I will go look at that Clifford 600 tomorrow, Thanks! I like the idea of having both, but I might remove the factory one. Just my preference. I get what you mean about the alarm going off. My factory alarm goes off, so I can't lock my doors!

I just checked it out. The Concept 600 does everything, but the remote start is optional. The AvantGuard 4 has everything but vibration/impact sensor which are optional. I guess it depends on how much each system cost, and how much the options are. Thanks for the input.

Sorry dog, I had this same problem with a bulldog r/s. I switched the lock and unlock and that solved the door locking situation. The switch actually emits one pulse for lock and two pulses for unlock. Once I switched the two, most of my alarm problems were done. The factory alarm disarm wire connected to a green/red wire that plugs into the security assy. You will find that there are I think three green/red wires in this harness, but the one you need to connect to is a thicker gauge and emits 4volts when tested with a multimeter. I had a problem finding this one, because the manual said it would have 12 volts. After you connect the F.A.S.D. wire to that, you should have a working alarm and should be able to lock and unlock the doors weather the car has been remote started or not. As for the trunk, I had a major problem finding the white/black wire with 12 volts. I'm beginning to think it may have a varied level as well. It was also brought to my attention that while my unit was capable of trunk popping, I needed an additional relay to make this feature work, so I haven't done that one yet. Send me some info on the trunk pop if you get that working. Sorry I'm verbose, but I hope it helps. Holla!!!
