The other day, I was with a co-worker and we were picking up some BMW E46 EyeLidz for another co-worker. This shop which happens to be a wholesaler told me that he could get Remus, but it would easily cost me $450+ and told me the same info that was mentioned about Non-Stainless Steel Mufflers (like on this discussion. So, he told me about a Generic muffler that looks and sounds just like the Remus for a fraction of the cost.... get this... $90.00 .

Ok, that must've made your eyes blink a few times. I know that you get what you pay for deal, but if any one of you has $90.00 floating around and want to try it out, I'd be willing to go with you on it. What do you all think? $90.00 is cheap, add $40.00 for install and you got a cheap muffler for $130 that claims to sound and look like a Remus?

... anyone else got any Stainless Steel Muffler suggestions?

I have heard all about the frills and deals of the greddy and remus and sound alike muffs, and let me tell you I got the remus.

At Nopi, vendors will have tape recorders so you can listen to what thier El Cheapo muffs sound like. But the deal is... how in the hell do I know... what sounds like a greddy isn't in fact a greddy. Just because I'm looking at some El Cheapo muff and listening to a greddy doesn't make the El Cheapo muff sound like a greddy.

I will say this... I know what my remus sounds like and I highly doubt a $90.00 job will give me what I am acustomed to.

But hey... you never know... If I was convinced - I'd sure stand up and praise the $90.00 job. Good luck to those willing to try.

Yeah, if this deal came up about 4 months ago, I could spare the $130 total to do it, but times are a wasting now and I have a goal to meet before the end of the year, so every $ counts.

Anyone else want to give it a try?

This generic exhaust that looks like the Remus wouldn't happen to be a Naxos would it? If so I can tell you it will be very very loud. Back before I bought my remus I thought about a generic exhaust (the Naxos) that looked exactly like the Remus but was in the range of only $100. I found a Legend owner that had it and emailed him to ask how it sounded and he told me never to buy it because it was so loud. My friend also had a Naxos on his Jetta and when I sat in that thing I wanted to get right out because it was so loud. You were guaranteed a headache everytime. I was glad I waited patiently to buy a Remus. If your looking for a very very loud exhaust then go for the generic, but I recommend you save up for the Remus for a very nice bassy tone. Goodluck :) .

see my friend...you pay for what you get. in this case quantity or quality still applies. the less you pay the MORE loud it'll be

let me tell you. a friend of mine bought a remus look alike a couple of days ago (of course, you know they were sweating me:D) and i can honestly say that this thing, even with the resonated "dual soft square" tips was loud and obnoxiuos, definately not remus. i love the Exotic sound of the remus, when free reving it sounds like a what a V6 ferrari would sound like

ommmMMMMMM BOOOOoooooo
ooooOOOOMMMMMMMM-
BOOOOOOoooooooo BOOP BOOP BOOOOOOO i love it.:D

there sounded more like a hole was in the pipe of a 88 camaro RS V6.
