Is Remus exhaust just the muffler or an entire cat back system? Where can I go to get it and for how much? Thanks again.

it is just a muffler...a good one at that. if you want full cat back go with the Greddy. Expect to pay $480-580 for the Remus. I was told to call kctrends.com for possibly 480. otherwise, nopi or cecwheels.com for like, 560.

Wrong, they do have remus cat-back exhaust that's Legend specific out there. There was even a group buy a few months back that fell through unfortunately. If you just get the remus muffler then you probably won't the the extra performance out of a full cat back, but I still like the look of it.

rockshox72 - I must chime in here because I just don't understand how full cat back means jack she~ite (on our application).

I say this to everyone contemplating a "Full Cat Back" system - less ChrisK and a few others who have done away with the restrictions before the exhaust cannister even comes into play.

You line me up with another 6 speed with a weapon r intake, bayou stage II chip, clutchmasters stage II clutch, and I'll have my legend specific remus and the other driver will have a "Full Cat Back" remus and guess what....

the result will not be dependent upon whether or not I have that 3 foot (if that) section of pipe. Our 6 speeds already have 2 precats infront of the A pipe and a long cat so - the difference will be VERY VERY VERY nominal - if the difference between the two setups can even be measured.

In all actuality - I believe the racing clutch (friction disc plus 2500lbs pressure plate) will determine who is able to hook up faster and able to shift at a constant 6k on the rev band.

I'm not trying to step up - I'm just baffled about our usage of Full on or Full Cat Back. Like said.... refer to my 4th paragraph.

It is an axle back not a cat back. Only cat back for our car is the greddy.

Ok, I maybe blabbing out incorrect technical specifics about exhausts performances, but Remus do have Cat-back, am I wrong? It has been my interpretation from past reading on the OLD and NEW forums that from the pipe connection at the rear of the stock catalytic converter on back to the exhaust is the Cat-back system. If I had the money, i'd get the sedan legend specific remus which cost a few $100 more than the coupe being 3" shorter in piping, but not a whole lot of US vendors appear to be marketing the sedan version from what I've heard and read so far. With a Universal, (just the muffler?), you don't get as much HP but not sure what the reasoning behind that.

I didn't say I was some GURU, but i'm no noob. So if anyone else wants to interject that's not so anal-rententive, be my guest.

It's not that we're being anal-retentive, we've just never heard of a cat-back Remus exhaust. Cat-back means the exhaust system attaches directly to the catalytic converter. An axle-back system does not.

Also, the Remus fits the sedan and the coupe, but they don't make separate exhaust systems for the two. On the box it comes in it says, ">91 Legend". It doesn't specify coupe or sedan because it'll fit both.

yup - shad is correct. check the following discussion for a confirmation from chrisk (where i actually got set straight about the remus): <http://www.acura-legend.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?threadid=6970>.

basically, the remus is the same for sedan and coupe, and is axle-back. the greddy is cat-back, and needs a 4-inch extension on the sedan because it was originally made for the coupe.

It's easy:

Cat-Back - Connects from Cat to Axle then from Axle to Muffler
Axle-Back - Connects from Axle to Muffler.

After the Catalytic Converter, there's a pipe that extends as far as the Axle. Then another pipe that is part of the muffler connects to this piece.

The Remus Muffler is just a muffler with tips and the metal tube that connects to the Axle.

Nothing more and nothing less. Hope this helps! :)

Shad_93LSCoupe, wallstrum, asianlegend, Chrisk - thanks for clearing that up - because although I have the Legend specific remus - I too thought (based on previous posts - until I read Chrisk's post) that remus had a cat back system and that I was missing out on something.

I will say this - I honestly believe the sound of the remus is the absolute SHE~ITE! I get compliments from Legend owners from time to time and that makes me feel good. Speaking of which - can someone give me specifics on whether or not Acura-Legend.com has produced any business cards. Matt??? Perhaps one or two boxes can be ordered and then for those who want - maybe 10 - 20 business cards can be thrown in an envelope to whomever contributed... a dolllar or two. I know that I'm game cause I do approach people with Legends and talk about the forum and I would say 6 out of 10 people never heard of a forum dedicated to the LEGEND!

Yeah! I would love some business cards advertising this site. Just this past week I saw 3 very nice Legends here in Btown that I'm sure the owners would be interested in this site. But I wasn't about to sit by their car in the parking lot waiting for them. But a business card would do the trick. Any plans for this Matt?

I wouldn't say there are legal implications but I am saying that... Proffessionally printed cards look WAY better than self produced.j

I will assume Acura-Legend.com is like an organization - where every member would have an identically designed card - not 30 different variations which (Matt, if I'm correct) may not like the light that is cast upon the forum in a business card that I create.

Just look at my username... imagine something like that on a card that is supposed to represent the forum (not that I would be so ignorant) - but I believe the creator may have a design or template?
