are the aftermarket replacement windshields (from the guys in the little van/truck who drive around town) as good as the factory one? i mean when they install a new windshield do they replace all the little moldings and all the little plastic pieces around the window?

im thinking about getting my windshield (a big gravil truck drove in front of my car when the previous owner had it), its got all kinds of little nicks on it. the money i would use to replace it is free (dont ask, its a long story), so i WILL do it if i can get as good of job as the factory does.

will the dealership replace it if i say... provide the glass?

In my experience I have found aftermarket glass (ex. PPG) to less scratch resistant than OEM.
The OEM glass, however, will cost you several hundred dollars more than the aftermarket and should only be considered if the vehicle is new. The dealer will subcontract the glasswork to a bodyshop which will use a local glass supplier. The last windshield installed in my Legend was performed by a mobile service, as the price was less than my buying the glass, buying the install kit, having to track down a few extra moulding clips (and there are several different type of clips re the Legend), and then spending the time to perform the work. The aftermarket glazier had all of the clips (if needed). The clips are reusable and are not replaced unless damaged. The mouldings themselves are reusable. If a moulding is damaged, you will have to order new as the glazier does not stock mouldings
