Replacing Radiator

904 Views 2 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  ari_one
For Christmas I got a new radiator and yesterday I had removed the old one, it has a crack in it. To make it easy I cut the old hoses and removed the fans and twas quite simple to yank it out after that.

But now I need to fully remove the old hoses still attached to the car. Should I use warm water, WD-40, or a hair dryer to expand the tubes and more easy to pull off the car.

After draining all the anitfreeze and I began to cut my hoses I was nervous when I saw red liquid oozing out and not green ooze. I cut my transmission line. I need help to find where to drain the last of the transmission fluid. What should I do to clean the transmission filter? I bought Honda specific ATF Castrol. Once this is done can I start my car up right away to get the fluids moving or should i let it sit for awhile to work with gravity?

WHEN I REPLACED MY RADIATOR..WHEN I REMOVED THE TRANSMISSION COOLING LINES ONLY A LITTLE FLUID CAME OUT(WHAT EVER WAS IN THE LINE).SO I WOULD SAY TO PUT NEW HOSES AND CONNECTIONS ON IT, FINNISH UR INSTALL, BLEED THE COOLEND, AND TOP OFF THE TRANNY FLUID. ALSO MAKE SURE THE CAR IS LEVEL, OR AT LEAST ON LEVEL GROUND WHEN YOU DO THE TRANNY FLUID AND CHECK IT WITHIN ONE MINUTE AFTER SHUTTING DOWN THE ENGINE.GOOD LUCK
The transmission fluid runs to the bottom of the radiator for cooling, all you should need to do is replace the tranny fluid lines and replace the lost fluid (most likely less than a quart).
