Hey there guys! I had a question about a loud scraping sound I hear when I turn the steering wheel. The noise is coming from the front of the car and it goes away the second I put my foot on the brake, but once I take it off, I hear it again. Sometimes it happens when I don’t turn also, like when I’m going straight on the freeway. It happens at all speeds and pretty much at random times. I would really like some ideas if anyone has some before I take it to the mechanic. Thanks a lot. If you need more info let me know and ill see if I can answer.

dunno what ur exact problem is but i had a scraping noise when i drove around and found out that the lug nuts on the wheel were loose. hopefully yours isnt anything big of a problem. good luck
could be either that or brake hardware kit, check lug nuts and brake hardware kit............

Sounds brake related, have you had your brakes serviced recently? Check your lugs first as noted....

I had that same problem few months ago, I thought it was the brakes as well but it wasn't, I looked under the rotor and noticed that there was a "pin"attached to the cv shaft of some sort that was scraping the rim only when I made a turn so I filed it down and the problem was gone. Hope that helps.

this sounds like the worn brake pad indicator scraping on the rotor...when the pads wear down it contacts the rotor and makes noise to let you know to check it. Putting on the brakes harder doesn't let it vibrate and make as much noise. Turning shifts the weight and pushes it into one of the rotors a little more.....This sounds like your normal warning device in action.

Problem Solved... it was the breaks like most of you said. Thank you so much for the help. It was 150$ for the job with ceramic pads with a lifetime warranty and free pad replacements. Is that around the right price?
Did you get all four corners replaced? If so, then it's a decent price. If they turned the rotors too, then it's a good price!
